My family and I had a ball staying at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando, Florida. Being at this resort sure does bring back a lot of memories of my childhood watching shows like Rugrats, Doug, Wild Thornberries, Double Dare, and good ol' Spongebob!
When I found out I was going to review the Nick Hotel during my visit to Orlando I was ecstatic! I knew my daughters would love this so I kept it a secret from them until we arrived to Orlando for my conference.
Once we got to the Nick Hotel we were greeted by the parking lot security that let us into the property once we gave him our hotel reservation details. While looking at the hotel from the outside it look so colorful, vibrant, and you see some of the lovable Nicktoons on top of the buildings.
When we walked into the lobby, I waited in line for over 15 minutes to check in because there was a family of about 10 in front of me who seems to have problems checking in. The good thing is there are several games in the gaming area for kids to play with to keep them occupy while waiting. While standing in line it gave me a chance to gaze around the lobby and snap some photos.
When it was my turn to check in the staff member got me checked in quickly, gave me a map of the location of my hotel, our wristbands that we have to wear during our stay, our room key, and we were all set to go to our hotel room. Valet offered to take our bags to our room but we declined his offer since we had enough hands to carry our own stuff. We went back into our car and drove around the building to our section where our hotel room would be. We got all of our belongings and caught the elevator to the 4th floor.
The minute we were on our hotel room floor, first thing we seen were the waterpark! Kids were having a blast and my girls couldn't wait to get their swimsuits on and join in on the fun!
Our hotel room was facing the waterpark so we had a fantastic view of everything! We opened the door to our room and what hit us was an old smell and I noticed that the decor is older too. Our room is in need of some renovation. I know this is an older hotel because I remember seeing the commercials when I was younger and the decor resembles the 90's to me. This is something the hotel needs to work on.
We had a two bedroom suite and the girls loved having Spongebob as their wallpaper. They both had their own beds and Mr. M and I had the master suite.
We put all of our stuff down and started touring the property. At the waterpark area there was a live entertainment show going on and kids were getting slimed on stage. So many smiling faces!
My girls were begging to go to the waterpark so we went back into our room so they could change into their bathing suits. Once we went into the waterpark it was hard to catch up with them, the girls were all over the place! The word of Lauren about this waterpark is "AWESOME"! It took Michelle awhile to go down the slides because it made her nervous but Lauren did them all over and over again!
I love the fact that there are lifeguards all over the pool and waterslides area since I do not know how to swim in case something bad happens but I do have Mr. M too just in case. I also loved that the pool was heated because the weather in Florida was a bit cold.
The big highlight was the bucket of slime that poured all over everyone standing next to the waterslides and Michelle was grossed out from it, LOL! I thought that was very hilarious!
After the girls swam their little hearts out for a few hours, it was time for us to get ready for some entertainment fun at the Double Dare Live Show! This use to be my show back in the days with Marc Summers (OMG my age is showing)! The show had the audience hyped up and everyone was involved with the games- so much fun!
When the show concluded, my family and I took a trip to Downtown Disney since it is just up the freeway from the resort.
The next morning, we had a buffet breakfast at the Nicktoons Cafe and got to meet and greet the Ninja Turtles. My girls were hoping to eat with Spongebob but they still enjoyed meeting the turtles though. The kids inside the restaurant were filled with joy and excitement! There were live action entertainment with the turtles and staff members, even the cooks were dancing to the music behind the scenes. Our food was very delicious, especially our made to order omelets.
We finished our breakfast and before we left to hit the road back to Atlanta, Lauren got a butterfly tattoo.
Our stay at the Nick Hotel was very quick and my daughters had the time of their life! There is never a dull moment at this hotel and there is something to do for the whole family.
Update: The Nick Hotel is now Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites - Waterpark. The Nickelodeon Resort moved to Mexico.
Looks like so much fun. I have never been to Nickelodeon but I do love me some spongebob my kids would never want to leave this place. Love the pictures and glad you could give us an idea of how it is before we went. I like to see what my money is going to pay for these days because some of these hotels......good gawd.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very fun hotel and you're right Kita your kids would never want to leave. This hotel is a amusement park within itself!
DeleteIt looks like a fun place to spend the weekend with the children. That pool area looks like a lot of fun and even a nail salon!! Love the butterfly tattoo. Great review! Pinning to my Places board.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pinning Shirley!
DeleteWe live in the Orlando area and my 7 year old has been bugging me to stay at that hotel. I think it will be one of our weekend getaways in the spring. The water park will eliminate the need to venture elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteYeah there is no need to go to any other parks because you got everything at this hotel.
DeleteFun! I use to watch Nick when I was little and loved Double Dare. Looks like a great place to send some family time.
ReplyDeleteDouble Dare was such an awesome show; I remember I use to watch it all the time with my brothers and when my grandfather would come over. I always wanted to be on the show.
DeleteWow! Beautiful photos. Looks like your girls had a great time & the hotel looks amazing. I must show my nieces who are huge Nick fans. I had no idea there was a Nick hotel.
ReplyDeletewww.theculturequeen.net
Yep there is a Nick Hotel and it has been there for years.
DeleteI live in the area but I've never been to Nick Hotel.
ReplyDeleteYou should stop by there someday Emmy.
DeleteYour sweet little munchkins are too lucky. Man, I wish this was around when I was little (80s) I would have been over the moon. Nick Hotel looked like big fun. If I wouldn't look like an old creeper, I'd try it out myself. It's so colorful and vibrant.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that hotels take forever to renovate though. Dated amenities are one big turn off for me. How did the beds sleep?
Yeah it is unfortunate about dated amenities. The beds were basic but my daughters did say their beds were a bit stiff.
DeleteLook at these beautiful girls! I know this was so much fun. My girls would love this. We would have to request a Dora room for sure. Great review.
ReplyDeleteI know your girls would love this hotel MJ!
DeleteNow this has to be the best hotel for kids that I have ever seen! How fun was that! #productreviewparty
ReplyDeleteVery fun hotel Stacie!
DeleteThis place is absolute garbage.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Florida - stay about 2 hours away - and decided to take my son for his birthday this past March. This place didn't even excite him and he's 8 and LOVES Nickelodeon. The rooms are stale, the beds are so hard, the decor is old, the parking is ridiculous, check-in is absolutely horrible, we never saw security anywhere, etc.
I know you can't discriminate (based on race) who can and who can't stay in your establishment, but sheesh. We ran into a family of color (had to be about 12 of them) that acted like they came straight out of the hood woods. I don't appreciate being antagonized on an elevator when I'm ready to retire for the evening. The playing games and pushing buttons to re-open the elevator is the worst...the thing is, the adults were standing right there allowing it to go on...standing there laughing and jeering the kids on. I know this was not on Nick, but they were guests of the hotel.
The one main thing that got me was the fact that we rented a poolside cabana, completed with food and a cake...only to be rained out. Of course, I don't have any issues with the weather - if it rained, it just did - but my issue is when you tell me that I will be credited back the difference because of the weather and I never get it back.
The only good thing about it is the breakfast buffet and that the kids get to meet the characters and the mall.
I would never recommend that anyone stay here. I know my family and I will never go back.
ChaNita Bei
Oh wow ChaNita, thank you so much for your honesty about this hotel. I will have to agree with you when it comes to the rooms and that is why I said it needs renovations. My girls had a great time staying here but I guess everyone is different.
DeleteWhen I stayed at the hotel I didn't run into any problems with guests since I was there during their slow travel days. But I know it is not the hotel's fault how guests acts but the parents need to learn how to control their children so the hotel can be enjoyable for everyone.
I seen there was a security office on the property but like you said I did not see them walking around, again maybe because I was there during their slow season and there wasn't much people staying there.
Have you tried contacting their corporate office about not receiving your credit? That is not acceptable if they said they were going to credit you and didn't.
I know this hotel reads this posts so I hope they read your comment and make some changes. I also noticed on other travel review sites people are saying the same things you are saying so this hotel needs to cater to their guest's needs and make changes or they will be losing guests.
Wow, I think my girls would love staying here! I think the room does look really homely and inviting with the layout, but I agree that the decor could use some updating for sure. I love your outfit with the floral dress, Lou!
ReplyDeleteI think your girls would have a great time Celeste!
DeleteThanks, I got my floral dress from Old Navy it was in their clearance rack.
I'm glad you enjoyed the hotel Kendra, I thought it was a fun place to take the family. Michelle was the only one brave enough to get slimed, LOL!
