Summer breaks starts off great. The kids are glad to be out of school and the parents are pleased that they don’t have to keep such a strict schedule. However, once the newly out of school phase wears off the kids become bored and the parents are longing for strict schedules. Today, I am discussing how to keep the kids entertained over the summer months.
Visit the Pool
If you have a pool in the community, allow your children to go there. If they are younger, you can take them some days after work and it can be the perfect activity for your children to unwind. Alternatively, if you have a water park close, the family could purchase passes and spend the weekends there.
Do Educational Activities
Many libraries have summer reading programs and you can purchase educational activities to do at home with your children during the summer. They probably are not going to want to do traditional things that they do at school, so you have to find a way to make continuing to learn over the summer break fun. Educational Insights has a great selection of educational activities available.
Go to the Park
Going to the park is great, especially for families who have pets. It is a great way to get everyone out of the house and into some fresh air. While there, you could have a picnic or enjoy a nice game of catch. If you have younger children and a park nearby, you could consider taking a walk around the park each night to run out their energy in time for bed.
Backyard Fun
Allow the kids to go out in the backyard and play. Invest in a few outside toys for them and they will be good to go. However, make sure you monitor the amount of time that they spend outside in the sun’s rays and make sure that they stay hydrated and wear sunscreen. In addition, even though you are at home, it is okay to go out there and join in on the fun.
There are numerous ways to keep your kids entertained during the summer months. The best part is many of them will keep them from in front of the televisions, playing videos games, and off their phones. They will be able to enjoy doing the things that you did when you were a kid.

Monday through Thursday they have to do 10 pages of HW 5 math 5 reading. They can't get any electronics until I have checked it. My son has severe allergies so he has to stay from outside for the most part which sucks or they would be out there more.
ReplyDeleteThat's good that you continue learning during summer break. Kids lose about 2 months worth of what they learn during school over the summer. I have math and reading books for my girls that they have to do and they are unable to play with their electronics or watch tv until I check their work.
