I received these skincare and makeup products for free to give my opinions.  I was not compensated.

Remember the post about tips on having actress Lupita's flawless skin by using Mary Kay’s Botanical Effects™ Skin Care Four Piece Set?

Well I gotten a chance to use them and also able to try out some cool makeup products from Mary Kay.

Mary Kay has 3 different skin care sets Formula base on your skin type- Dry, Normal, and Oily.  I chose to use their oily skincare set (Formula 3) because in the Spring and Summer months my skin is very oily that I find myself patting with blotting tissues all over my face throughout the day.  I need to make sure I don't look all greasy after an hour of wearing my foundation.

Botanical Effects® Skin Care – a simple regimen infused with the goodness of botanicals that are personalized to your skin type to bring out skin’s healthy radiance.

This set includes:
  • Botanical Effects® Cleanse Formula 3 (Oily Skin)
  • Botanical Effects® Mask Formula 3 (Oily Skin)
  • Botanical Effects® Freshen Formula 3 (Oily Skin)
  • Botanical Effects® Hydrate Formula 3 (Oily Skin)

It is suitable for sensitive skin and is free of alcohol, fragrance, and synthetic dyes. Non-comedogenic.

My Review

  • Botanical Effects® Cleanse Formula 3 (Oily Skin)-  I love the fact that this cleansing liquid is not harsh on my skin and also cleans off my makeup very well without leaving any residue. My skin did not feel all dried out like some soaps makes my face feel.

  • Botanical Effects® Mask Formula 3 (Oily Skin)- OMG this mask is beyond wonderful!  After cleansing my skin, I added the clay mask to my face and neck and waited for it to dry.  The drying time is 10 minutes but I left it on much longer because it was so relaxing and I felt like I was relaxing at a spa since I was lying in bed while the mask dried.  I washed it off after 20 minutes and my face was lighter and so touch-ably smooth!  This mask can be used 2 to 3 times a week.

  • Botanical Effects® Freshen Formula 3 (Oily Skin)- This is like a toner spray to help freshen up your face.  It also helped wipe away the rest of the clay mask I had left behind on my face after washing it.  My face was even smoother after using this freshening spray and felt rejuvenated.

  • Botanical Effects® Hydrate Formula 3 (Oily Skin)- This is a moisturizer to hydrate my skin.  It didn't leave my skin greasy at all like some moisturizers and it works prefect under my primer and makeup.  I just can't stop touching my face, it's so soft- seriously!

  • Mary Kay's Translucent Loose Powder- The powder I normally use has a tint color to it but not this translucent powder, it goes on clear after applying your foundation.  It helps control excess oil and gives your skin a flawless tone without giving off a ashy cakey look.  It gives your makeup the perfect finish.  You can also use this powder by itself too to help control oil.  A little goes a long way.  Price is $16.

  • Mary Kay's Rock N' Red/Rock N' Rouge Lip Gloss-  This lip gloss is a bold color red in which I like.  I'm not much of a lip stick wearer but I love me some lip gloss because it has my lips popping of color without over-drying my lips like matte lipsticks does.  Plus I love the shine that lip gloss gives.  This lip gloss is long lasting, even after eating food I didn't have to reapply.  I received so many compliments!  Price is $16.

  • Mary Kay's Lash Love Lengthening Mascara-  This mascara really elongate my lashes without making it clumpy.  My lashes looked fuller and I love the fact my lashes didn't feel like a hard crunch.  Price is $15.

Is Mary Kay’s Botanical Effects™ Skin Care Four Piece Set Worth a Try?

I love it all! This is the best skincare line I've used from Mary Kay.  I love that it doesn't has harsh ingredients and my skin looks like a big improvement (I'll have Lupita's flawless skin in no time!).  I will say this, the price is a bit expensive for the set which is $58.  But the good thing is you can purchase the facial products separately if you like and the cost range from $14-$16 each which is not too bad.

I love the makeup products as well.  I need to shop for Mary Kay products more often if my bank account allows it, lol!

Have you used Mary Kay's Beauty Products before?  If, so how do you like them?

  1. Your skin looks flawless. I think my skin is oily or normal depending on my hormonal state. I still have not jumped into the beauty habits, but when I do, I'll have to decide what kind of skin I "mostly" have he he

  6. I think I have used their lotion.. Sadly.. I don't wear much and am pretty ignorant on what kind of make up to buy.. With three little girls... I am hoping my girls don't hold this against me.

  7. Your "after" pic is gorgeous!

This is the second Mary Kay product you've reviewed recently, no? I have never tried Mary Kay, but I must say, based on your reviews, it doesn't seem to be what I thought and looks to be worth a try.

    Thanks for "breaking it down"!

    1. No Courtney this is the first time reviewing Mary Kay. Their products are way better than I expected but price is a bit high. The facial mask is the bomb and I will continue to keep buying that.

  11. Really great review. I have dry skin as it is, so a cleanser that doesn't leave your face feeling dried out is really important to me.

    1. Yes you can spray the toner on your face. I also do this with my makeup setting spray.
