Mother's Day Brunch Menu Ideas: Celebrating the Amazing Women in Our Lives

Mother's Day is a special occasion to celebrate the incredible women who have nurtured, supported, and loved us throughout our lives. It's a time to honor the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and other maternal figures who have profoundly impacted our journey.

One of the best ways to celebrate Mother's Day is by hosting a delicious brunch. Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a big family feast, there are plenty of options to make the day extra special. Here are some Mother's Day brunch ideas to inspire you.

Egg Benedict

1. Classic Brunch Favorites

Sometimes, the simplest things are the most satisfying. But, of course, you can always go right with classic brunch staples like pancakes, waffles, Egg Benedict, and bacon. Add toppings like fresh fruits, whipped cream, and chocolate chips to the pancakes and waffles to make it extra special. Serve the Egg Benedict with a side of roasted asparagus or sautéed mushrooms. And don't forget the mimosas!

Egg Benedict Recipe

Egg Benedict is a classic breakfast dish that is one of my favorites. To make this dish, you will need the following ingredients: English muffins, Canadian bacon or ham, eggs, butter, lemon juice, and hollandaise sauce.

First, toast the English muffins until they are lightly browned. While they are toasting, fry the Canadian bacon or ham in a pan until it is crispy.

Next, poach the eggs. To do this:

1. To prepare, heat a pot of water until it starts to simmer. Then, add a small amount of vinegar to the water.

2. Crack an egg into a small bowl and carefully transfer it into the water.

3. Repeat with the remaining eggs.

4. Cook the eggs for approximately 3-4 minutes until the egg whites are firm but the egg yolks are still liquid.

While the eggs are poaching, make the hollandaise sauce. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Combine the egg yolks, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a blender. Blend until smooth. Slowly pour the melted butter with the blender running until the sauce is thick and creamy.

Place a toasted English muffin half on a plate to assemble the Egg Benedict. Top with a slice of Canadian bacon or ham, then a poached egg. Spoon hollandaise sauce over the top and garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Quiche Lorraine

2. French-Inspired Brunch

If you want to add a touch of elegance to your Mother's Day brunch, consider a French-inspired menu. You can start with a cheese and charcuterie board, with brie, goat cheese, prosciutto, and crusty baguette. Next, you can serve Quiche Lorraine, croque-madame, or savory crepes filled with ham, cheese, and mushrooms for the main course. Finally, finish off the meal with some macarons or crème brûlée.

Quiche Lorraine Recipe

To make Quiche Lorraine, you will need a few essential ingredients. Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F. Next, gather 1 pie crust, 6 slices of bacon, 1 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese, 4 eggs, 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.

Start by cooking the bacon until it's crispy, then chop it into small pieces. Then, sprinkle half of the cheese into the pie crust, followed by the bacon. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the cheese and bacon in the pie crust.

Finally, top the quiche with the remaining cheese and bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown. Allow the quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Hummus

3. Mediterranean Brunch

A Mediterranean-inspired brunch can be an excellent choice for a lighter, healthier option. You can start with a mezze platter featuring hummus, tzatziki, olives, and pita bread. You can serve a frittata with spinach, feta cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes for the main course. You can also make a salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and feta cheese, dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. Finally, serve some fresh fruit and Greek yogurt for dessert.

Hummus Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions:

1. To make a smooth mixture, use a food processor to combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt. Process for 1-2 minutes.

2. While the food processor is running, slowly pour in the water and olive oil. Process for another 1-2 minutes until the hummus is creamy and smooth.

3. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

4. Serve and enjoy with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Shrimp and Grits

4. Southern-Style Brunch

A traditional Southern-style menu can be a great choice to add Southern charm to your Mother's Day brunch. You can start with biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, fried chicken and waffles, or a classic pimento cheese sandwich. For dessert, you can serve some peach cobbler or pecan pie. Don't forget the sweet tea!

Shrimp and Grits Recipe

To make shrimp and grits, you'll need some fresh shrimp, stone-ground grits, butter, garlic, onion, chicken broth, heavy cream, and some spices like cayenne pepper, paprika, and thyme.

First, cook the grits according to the package instructions, but use chicken broth instead of water for extra flavor. While the grits cook, sauté the chopped onion and garlic in butter until soft and fragrant.

Add the shrimp to the pan and let them cook until they're pink and cooked through. Then, add the spices and heavy cream, and let the mixture simmer until it thickens slightly.

To enjoy your meal, spoon the shrimp and sauce over the grits and add a touch of fresh parsley or green onions as a garnish.

DIY Brunch Bar with Drinks

5. DIY Brunch Bar

If you want to get creative and involve your guests in the brunch-making process, a DIY brunch bar can be a fun and interactive idea. For example, you can set up a waffle or pancake station with different batters, toppings, and syrups. You can also set up a mimosa bar with other juices, fruits, and sparkling wine. You can even set up a build-your-own bagel bar with different spreads, smoked salmon, and toppings.

  1. I don't like to go to restuarants on holidays because of the crowds. I already told my husband I wanted blueberry pancakes!

    1. Yum Paris! I love blueberry pancakes! On Mother's Day we usually go to brunch but like you said I hate the crowds so I'm unsure if we will be going to any restaurants.
