Hey yall!  The girls and I had another fun filled weekend of shopping.  With Michelle’s birthday coming up I wanted to kick start it early and do some fun things for her.  We are not going to do anything extravagant like Lauren’s birthday when we traveled to Savannah, so I wanted to make sure Michelle’s birthday is just as special as Lauren’s was.

I made a promise to the girls that I would take them to the American Girl store to get their dolls hair done last year and the girls has been harassing me to go for the longest time but time would always get in the way.

As some of you may know, I am one of the Atlanta bloggers for Famous Footwear and will be sharing about their name brand shoes and new store openings from time to time.  Famous Footwear recently opened a new store at Northpoint Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia and I wanted to make sure to stop by and check the store out.

The American Girl store is also at the North Point Mall so it was the perfect time to visit both stores and shop for some of Michelle’s birthday gifts.

On Saturday, we traveled 40 minutes to North Point Mall for a day of some shopping.  First stop, American Girl Boutique and Bistro store!  My girls are always in awe at this store.  It is like every young girls dream come true to be at a American Girl store.  Seeing all the young girls walking around with their dolls smiling with glee while picking out new clothes and accessories for their dolls and their parents looked dazed and confused because they know their bill is going to be sky high!

My girls and I headed for the back of the store where the hair salon was to make our hair appointments.  Good thing there were appointments available and Lauren’s doll got her hair done immediately but Michelle’s doll had an hour wait, but that was no problem because it gave us enough time to visit Famous Footwear.

We left the dolls at the American Girl salon, made reservations to eat at the bistro later in the day and then went to Famous Footwear.

Last Saturday, Famous Footwear had their grand opening event but unfortunately I was unable to make it since I was feeling under the weather, so the girls and I missed out on all the festivities.

Good thing Famous Footwear still have Free Shoe Saturday going on, every hour from 12pm-5pm they do a drawing and a lucky person win free shoes.  You don’t have to be there to see if you won they’ll call you if you do.

The girls and I picked out our shoes and made out like a bandit!  We had $100 worth of Famous Footwear gift cards and a $10 off coupon, our total for 4 pairs of name brand shoes was about $140 and with my gift cards and coupon I paid about $30!  SCORE!!!  Thanks Famous Footwear!

Famous Footwear is a great shoe store for the whole family with great prices.  Their stores are clean and easy to find the shoes that you want.  You'll always find on trend shoes at their stores.

After shoe shopping we went back to the American Girl store to watch Michelle’s doll get her hair done.  After Michelle’s doll was finished I allowed her to pick out a new outfit for her doll and also get a new dog, but of course it never fails Lauren wanted her doll to have new clothes too.  I’m such a softy and allowed Lauren to get her doll some clothes too even though she is not the one celebrating a birthday.  Do you buy gifts for your other children when it is not their birthday?

The girls got their dolls new outfits, sunglasses, and Michelle got a dog, and you want to know the price I paid?  $140!!!!!!!  This is why I don’t really go to American Girl store, it cost way too much money, ridiculous, but the smiles on my girl’s faces, priceless.

We had our meals at the bistro while their dolls had a seat and sipped their tea.  Our waiter and hostess wished Michelle a happy birthday and she was grinning from ear to ear!

Although American Girl is expensive, every girl should at least experience visiting there once in their life.  If you don't want to spend full price on clothes and accessories you can find some on Amazon and eBay.  If you don't mind getting knock offs there are alternatives too like Target has their own brand that is similar to American Girl called Our Generation.

What a great day we had, but something bad happened, well not too bad.  When we got home I noticed we didn’t have our bag of shoes with us!  My heart jumped out of my chest and I went straight to panic mode.  Then I remembered, I left our Famous Footwear bag in American Girl’s restroom.  I just knew our shoes were gone but had a bit of hope that someone found it and gave it to one of the employees.  I called the American Girl 800 number and the call center called the store and had good news for me, our shoes was sent to their lost and found.  We had to make the 40 minute drive back to the store to pick up our shoes and return back home.

Thank goodness our shoes was found, those shoes are what the girls and I want to start wearing this summer.

Have you ever left something at a store before?  If so, what happened?

  2. I thought about doing American girl for my daughter but the prices of those dolls...made me say no ma'am. I kept it simple this year took her to dinner at haibachi, she was able to buy 100 bucks worth of stuff at toysrus and I had a party in her classroom.

    1. Yes those dolls are very expensive, especially if you buy the dolls a bed or car. Michelle is talking about going to Sky Zone next and also doing cupcakes in her class. I don't do big parties which involves more money spending when I can use that money for her gifts.

  3. What a fun birthday weekend! I loved my American Girl doll growing up. I think it is awesome that it is still so popular! Also, you can't beat a weekend of buying new shoes. :)

  4. I used to read the American Girl books when I was a kid!! I actually own the doll Kirsten and unbraided one of her braids when I was a kid. I tried to re-do it, but it hasn't ever looked the same--maybe I'd better take her to the American doll store to get her hair fixed by a professional, haha. I didn't know that they did that!!

  5. The American Girl brand is just genius. I didn't realize how grand they were until I saw all the little girls going crazy over them at an event at one of the stores. I like how there are so many dolls to represent the diversity in our country.

I have left things in stores and they were always there when I returned...thank goodness.

  6. What a fun day! I can hardly wait for a granddaughter so I can buy her an American Girl doll. My youngest daughter had all the books when she was little. I read them, too. :)

We were in Orlando once and my daughter accidentally left her wallet in the grocery cart at Walmart. She realized it a few hours later when we were back at our condo. We immediately rushed to Walmart and someone had turned it in to lost and found and nothing was taken. There are lots of good, honest people in the world.

American Girl store is a tad bit scary for me. But I promised my daughter if she gets all As I'll get her one. She's keeping her end of the bargain so far, so I gotta take her. I love the shoes btw.

I may need to plan a little Momma Daughter weekend trip to Georgia soon so we can have this experience. So fun! Thanks for sharing...

Wow, I want to be a Famous Footwear blogger! GREAT HAUL!

We just went to the American Girl store 2 weeks ago for my daughter's 7th birthday! And then the month before for my eldest daughter's 9th birthday. Yep, consider me a broke mama now!! Ugh!

A couple other places that have knock off American Girl clothes that my daughter's like are Michaels and Justice!

  12. Oh sweet love of time.. an hour wait for the doll's hair. AGD store gives me the shakes and I have 3 girls so that's bad. Off topic, I will say that it is so cool that in the American Girl Doll's bathroom that there is a doll hook to hold the doll.

    1. I can only imagine how much it would cost for you to buy dolls for 3 girls and the accessories! I would have to take out a loan, lol!

Yeah I like those doll hooks in the bathroom, keeps from having to put your doll on the bathroom floor.
