Cantu Care for Kids Hair Styling Products Curling Cream and Styling Custard
I received product free in hopes for me to do a review.  All opinions are my own.  Post contains affiliate links.

Hey yall!  I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day last weekend!  Mine was great; I really enjoyed my special day!

I got what I wanted which was a Nutri Bullet because I gave my juicer away since it was such a pain to clean it.  I have been using my Nutri Bullet and have been loving it; I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to get it.  If you’re in the market for making smoothies and drinks at home I highly recommend getting this.

Michelle gave me a flower in a flower pot she made.  Too sweet!

Also for Mother’s Day, IKEA hosted my family and me to some Mother’s Day brunch and gifted me a bottle of their Swedish sparkling apple juice, very sweet of them to do that!

My Cantu Care for Kids Hair Styling Products Review

Now, for the real reason of this post.  Cantu haircare now has hair products for kids with textured hair.  I’ve used Cantu's leavein conditioning repair cream a few years back when I became chemical free with my hair and I didn’t like their product at all, flakes, flakes, and more flakes!  After my hair looked like it was snowing I stopped buying their hair product and gave it away to someone else.

Now fast forward to today, their hair styling creams for kids contains no sulfates, glutens, parabens, or mineral oil and these creams are supposed to add hold and keep curls define and tame the frizz.  I’m unsure about their ingredients back then but I was happy to see not all the junk that are usually in hair products.

I wanted my girls to wear their hair down for Mother’s Day so the night before I washed and conditioned their hair like usually, applied leave-in conditioner, and then comb through Cantu’s curling cream and styling custard.  I put their hair in several big twists before they went to bed.  Cantu’s curling cream reminds me of any other curling cream, thick in texture and looks and feels like lotion.  Cantu’s styling custard wasn’t as thick and texture was more like a gel.

Sunday afternoon before we headed to IKEA for Mother’s Day Brunch, I took my girls' hair down and fluffed it out.  And guess what?  My girls' hair had white flakes, ugh!!!!!  Their hair felt like it was sticky with product like they needed their hair rewashed.  What a disappointment!

I had no time to rewash their hair so I just let it stay like it was.  I should’ve known that the products would flake in their hair when the creams seem to just sit on top of their hair and not absorb.  I will say my girls’ hair looked nice but I will not be using Cantu ever again!  Their products still is no good.

  1. Hi Lou
Glad u had an awesome Mother's Day. First of the girls are adorable and they look like best friends. I love their natural flowing hair style. I have used Cantu's moisturize curl activator cream and I didn't like it either. It was very difficult to really massage in the cream. I have an almost full bottle to give away now too!!

    1. Thanks Janet! Yeah Cantu just doesn't absorb at all and leaves a film on the hair. I wish they would change up their formula. Now I have 2 full bottles of products that will be collecting dust.

    6. Hey Lou thanks so much am about to try it out . Do i have to combine the products together?

    7. Clarissa, no you don't. I use coconut oil just for added shine and moisture. But the ORS is thick and creamy, and will leave your son's hair moisturized for days.

  2. I did not know that they had a line for kids. My mom uses their shampoo and conditioner sometimes. I tried out the conditioner and didn't experience any problems but it is not a brand that I use currently. #ProductReviewParty

    1. The line for kids is new, it is not even on their website yet. I have used their shampoos and conditioners in the past but don't know how well it worked for my hair.

    1. I just don't see how people are giving these hair products great reviews. Glad to see we are not the only ones that don't like Cantu.

    1. That is why I gave mines away, it takes too much to clean it. I'm always busy so I like to make my smoothies and go.

  8. That looks like a great day! I never understood all the hype about Cantu. I've had many a product flake. I can't remember them all. lol Could it be that it's not playing nice with other products used?

    1. Could be. I've used only a single brand on naked hair to see how well it does in my hair. But with Cantu it was flaking in my hair back then and nothing has changed with it today.

  10. I recently bought this for my daughter who has 3c/4aish hair. I put a pea sized amount on each little ponytail I did, then layered it with Creme of Nature's Butterlicious Curls Creme, then did a final layer of a warmed up combo of oil and coconut oil. I unloosened her twists in the morning and the result was beautiful spiraly curls. It definitely took product layering to achieve that look, but it turned out super hydrated and the curls stayed. She has beautiful hair that is easy to manage anyway, but this took it to a new level!

  11. Hi! So I'm pretty sure I have a similar texture to yourself as well as your daughters... I do not use any type of custard(they just don't mix with my hair), but the curling cream by itself is wonderful!! Hope this helps!
