It is getting hot outside and that means it is time to change up my makeup routine. Usually I wear
MAC liquid foundation year around but I found out that
MAC is the culprit of my skin always breaking out, their makeup is too heavy on my face, plus by the end of the day my face would look like a greasy mess. YUCK!
A couple of days before Mother’s Day weekend I went to a
Women’s Day Out event at my local mall.
While there, several stores from inside the mall had vendor booths
showcasing their products that they sell in their stores. I received so many goodies that I still haven’t
gone through my bag of stuff.
I came to a table with a couple of ladies giving coupons for
Bare Minerals.
They asked me what makeup
I had on my face and I told them MAC and then they frowned up their faces.
They began to tell me how Bare Minerals would
be better for my skin and would help my skin to breath.
They also let me know that MAC makeup is too
heavy on peoples' skin which makes peoples’ face look cakey and their makeup rubs off
and transfer on whatever it touches.
I love MAC but those ladies are right. I’m tired of my face feeling like I have
makeup on! I’m tired of the shine! I’m tired of my breakouts! I wanted change!
The reason why I wear makeup in the first place is because I
have dark spots and MAC gives me such great coverage so I’ve always stuck with
them. One of the Bare Minerals lady said
that I can achieve full coverage with their makeup as well and their makeup is
a bit cheaper in price than MAC and also I won’t have to buy that much makeup
because it will last me up to 6 months.
Ok, I’m sold!
I went to the
Bare Minerals store to get my consultation so
I could get started using their makeup.
When the makeup artist wiped the makeup off my
cheeks I was a bit embarrassed by how thick my foundation was on my face.
The makeup artist asked me what my skin type was; oily, dry, or
combination?
I told her oily, so she
took out a
matte powder foundation.
A
puzzled look came across my face and then I asked her, “that is supposed to
cover up my face, including my dark marks?”
She said yes and started adding the matte powder to my face.
I will say that the coverage is ok but it doesn’t cover my
spots completely, so I asked her if they provide a concealer and she told me
they do.
Once she used a
concealer and
then finished up with a
setting powder I thought my makeup looked good on me,
well at least my cheek area of my face did since that was the only place she
put their makeup on.
Now I’m officially in the Bare Minerals makeup family! YAY!
Me with MAC Makeup
Me with Bare Minerals
So I’ve been using Bare Minerals for the past several weeks
now and I’ve been loving it so far.
I
don’t have to apply so much makeup for coverage and their makeup feels super
lightweight.
Also the color matches my skin
tone much better too.
I will say that
you can see some of my spots but I don’t mind because I’m noticing they are
starting to fade.
My skin is getting
clearer with hardly any breakouts, YES!!!!!
I still have a bit of shine in the T-Zone area of my face by the end of
the day but I get a tissue and pat those areas. My makeup does not come off and
also my makeup doesn’t transfer onto my clothes.
I won’t say I’m completely stepping away from
MAC because I
adore their high pigment eye shadows, blushes, and lip sticks.
Plus I’ll never turn away from their
eyebrow pencils.
But for the time being I will
no longer use their foundations.
If you're looking for lightweight makeup that is light to medium coverage I recommend you use
Bare Minerals.
Have you ever used Bare Minerals Makeup?
Do you have a side-by-side comparison? The top picture looks cooler-toned and very nice. Are the pictures the same makeup? Maybe just the lighting then? Not sure what your makeup looked like before, but the top picture looks quite nice.
ReplyDeleteHey Kimberly,
DeleteYes the two pictures are with the same makeup but with different lighting. I added pictures of me wearing MAC to compare the two makeup brands.
I definitely like the Bare Minerals make-up. Your skin look very nice. I can see what you mean about the MAC makeup being heavy and non-breathable. Your face looks fresher with the Bare Minerals. Awesome find!!!
DeleteThanks so much Kimberly! Glad I don't have to put a pound of makeup on my face anymore for coverage.
DeleteI'm an Arbonne loyalist, but I used to work for ULTA and know bare minerals is good stuff. I love how it looks on you and I can tell the color is a much better match for your skin tone!
ReplyDeleteHey Bekah,
DeleteThanks so much! I never heard of Arbonne before, I'll need to check them out.
That bare minerals looks flawless on you. Good skin tone matching too. I've been working on some dark spots too. I've been using Palmers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nikki! I have used Palmers coco butter for my dark marks but it was too greasy for me and I had to stop using it.
DeleteI think you look amazing in both foundations!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Claire!
DeleteBoth of the products look good and I've heard good things about Bare Minerals.

I think your skin tone looks more natural with bare minerals. I'll have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteI agree Paris. Yes you should check out Bare Minerals, I think you'll like them.
DeleteI was a mac girl for a looooong time until i discovered bare minerals. It's great. I love the bare minerals on you! it looks more natural!
ReplyDeleteI was a MAC girl for a long time too but it was time for a change. I love the fact that my face looks more natural and not all made up with heavy makeup.
DeleteI love both bare minerals and MAC. Both look lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Celeste!
DeleteI too like the Bare Minerals and when I get back I am going to send you some Avon products to try. #ProductReviewParty
ReplyDeleteI will definitely need to try Bare minerals ... your skin look flawless ... really nice #producreviewmom
ReplyDeleteGive them a try Iveth! My skin feels good and I don't really feel like I have makeup on. My look is more natural and not all made up.
DeleteI tried Bare Minerals a few years ago, when I wanted to try to start wearing makeup. However, I never got the hang of applying it to my face. I do like that it is natural and light. I still have it but I'm not sure how long it lasts. I may need to dig it out and find a good Youtube video to show me how to use it.
ReplyDeleteThe makeup artist showed me how to do it. Using their brushes works out a lot and you must swirl the powder in a circular motion with the brush to warm up the powder on your face. First time I applied Bare Minerals my face was looking very ashy but you'll start to get the hang of it once you keep applying it.
DeleteI will not be returning back to liquid foundations either.
ReplyDeleteI have a few Bare Minerals eye shadows and their foundation. The foundation was a bit dry for me, but the eye shadows come in beautiful shades.
ReplyDeleteYou should try out their powder foundations Stacie. I haven't tried their eye shadows yet.
DeleteYou look lovely in all the pictures! I do think the bare minerals seems to offer a bit more natural look and I like that it's light weight. I've been looking for something to try and will be checking it out. Thanks for sharing your experience with Bare Minerals, very helpful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barb! I think you'll enjoy Bare Minerals, especially if you wear makeup during the summer months.
DeleteI like the Bare Minerals look on you. I had to quit wearing foundation 10 years ago because it was breaking me out terribly (I only wore it about 3-4 months but it clogged my pores badly and took my skin a year to clear up). Glad you found something healthier.
ReplyDeleteThanks Charnita! I'm trying to still clear up my skin now. It may take years for my acne spots to fade.
