Scrubbing your delicate facial skin may sound like a bad idea. However,
exfoliating can reveal smooth and healthy looking skin as well improve
your skin's overall texture. Exfoliating removes old skin cells that
clog up your pores and make skin appear dull. Exfoliants also help with
acne because of their skin cleansing properties. When it comes to your
face, you don't want to chance it by putting chemicals that you can't
pronounce on it. Look no further than your kitchen cabinet to make your
own spa-worthy exfoliating treatment!
1. Sugar is not
only the thing that makes your cupcakes, teas and pies sweet, but it
also performs double duty as a super skin exfoliator! The glycol acid in
sugar boost new skin cell production and its texture gently smooths out
skin's outer layer. To make your own scrub, mix together one cup of
brown sugar with enough olive oil to cover it. Gently mix the two
ingredients and you have your own sugar scrub for pennies on the dollar!
2. Baking
Soda is another ingredient that just sits in your fridge or cabinet,
waiting for its closeup! But baking soda is very effective exfoliant
that is non abrasive and safe. When using your everyday cleanser, add a
teaspoon of baking soda and experience its skin smoothing effects!
3. Yogurt
is great for you inside out! Not only does it help you lose weight but
it also contains lactic acid. Lactic acid gently sloughs away old skin
cells to reveal a more youthful and bright complexion. Apply plain
yogurt to your face and let set for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm
water for fuss free exfoliation!
4. Papaya
contains an enzyme called papain. What makes this enzyme so wonderful is
that it dissolves older skin cells without harming the younger ones. It
has also been noted that this enzyme heals skin and can even make age
spots less noticeable! Find a green papaya and mash it up to make a
facial mask. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
You
don't have to spend a ton on making your face look its best! I'm sure
that you have some of these ingredients in your pantry right now. Why
not
pamper yourself a little?
Note: When your
skin is breaking out or inflamed, skip any types of exfoliating
treatments. They will only irritate and worsen your skin's condition.
