Even during the Fall season, you can still plan vacations. With school back in full swing, a weekend getaway can be a great way to give everyone a break from their busy schedules. Today, I'm excited to share some fantastic family vacation ideas perfect for this time of year.
Fall Festivals
Have you considered exploring nearby cities to see if fall festivals are happening this year? It could be an excellent opportunity to enjoy fun family time without breaking the bank on a fall vacation. These festivals offer a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions, with plenty of food, music, arts, and crafts to enjoy. Oktoberfest is a popular festival many cities celebrate, so I suggest checking that out first.
Mountain Resort
One of the upsides of the fall weather is mountain resort season. My family likes to spend Spring Break and summer at mountain resorts, and I would love to experience a mountain resort during the Fall. Fall is the perfect time of year to get out and go hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Going to a resort is something the entire family will love, and there are so many amazing things to do during your vacation there.
City Getaway
Short on cash but need a vacation? Travel to a city you can drive to within a couple of hours, book an affordable room, and spend time enjoying what the city offers. While it will be in the same state that you reside in sometimes, just going to a different area with different scenery is all that you need to have a fresh start back home. Start researching your nearby cities, and you will be surprised at all of the budget-friendly things they have for families to do.
Take a Cruise
There are so many family-friendly cruises available during the Fall. Book a family cruise if your kids get a break during the fall season. They will have something to talk about with their friends once school starts up again, and everyone will be able to relax and enjoy time together as a family. Many cruise lines offer special deals and packages during the fall season, and you can enjoy various activities and amenities on board. Some popular destinations for fall cruises include the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Alaska. You can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and shore excursions with your family.
Visit a National Park
Fall is the perfect time for you to visit a National Park. During the spring and summer, they tend to be packed, yet fewer people are there during the Fall. Take your family to one of the National Parks and support them during the off-season. If you are feeling adventurous, consider camping out at the campground so your children can learn to embrace the outdoors. The fall foliage can be stunning, and there are plenty of outdoor activities like hiking and wildlife watching. Some famous national parks in the Fall include Yellowstone, the Great Smoky Mountains, Yosemite, and Acadia.
Go to an Amusement Park
Fall is when many amusement parks start doing their Halloween makeovers. If you have older children and are a thrill seeker, attending one of these events could be a lot of fun. If you have a season pass with an amusement park, you must pay for your lodging, as most theme parks include Halloween activities in their basic pass-holder plan. Six Flags turns into Fright Fest, with scary fun for the whole family. By day, enjoy Six Flag's Boo Fest for children, and by nightfall, enjoy the chills and thrills of the night.
Go Apple Picking on a Farm
One great option for a fall family vacation is to go apple picking on a farm. It's a fun and interactive way to experience the fall season together and create lasting memories. Many farms offer various apple varieties for picking and other activities such as hayrides, corn mazes, and petting zoos. You can take your freshly picked apples home to enjoy pies, cider, and other fall treats.
Road Trip to See the Leaves Change
A great way to experience the beauty of the fall season is to take a road trip to see the leaves change. Many scenic routes across the country offer stunning views of the colorful foliage. Some popular destinations for leaf peeping include New England, the Great Smoky Mountains, and the Pacific Northwest. You can stop at charming small towns, hike through national parks, and enjoy local cuisine. Pack warm clothes and plan for accommodations and dining options, as peak season can get busy.
I hope these ideas inspire you to plan a wonderful family vacation this Fall. Remember to have fun, stay safe, and make unforgettable memories with your loved ones!
We want to go back to the Rock Ranch that was fun. This fall we will do maybe something outside. My son wants to go camping...I need some things before we take that step like a real potty but we may give it a try
ReplyDeleteI have never gone camping before. I'm so scared of the animals that starts coming out at night. I can do staying in a cabin but not sleeping out in a tent.
