I was loaned the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander 3.0 GT S-AWC for 7 days to do a review, all opinions are my own.
Hey yall!
How has
the weather been in your neck of the woods?
Atlanta’s weather still has not been good, once the season changed to
autumn the weather brought along rain that never seemed to want to stop and
move away.
The family and I wanted to
get the season started right with visiting pumpkin patches, county fairs,
running around and getting lost in corn mazes, all that fun stuff that happens
during the fall months, but it seems Mother Nature had another plan for us;
keeping us indoors!
But hey, we're not
going to let Mother Nature ruin our time and make us catch cabin fever!
My family and I have been riding around and keeping dry in
the
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT S-AWC.
This is my first time reviewing a Mitsubishi vehicle so I didn’t know
what to expect beforehand; however, I had a friend back in high school that was
driving in the Mitsubishi Lancer sports car and I rode with her in it once and
it seemed like a okay car during that time, but I really wasn’t paying the car
much attention because during those years I could care less about cars as long
as I’m not riding the bus!
LOL!
First impression when the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander was delivered
to me was it looked like one of the small Volkswagens SUV’s (Touareg) I’ve been
seeing driving on the roads today and also looked like the Subaru Forester mixed together.
The grille in front of the Outlander gives
the car a cool, strong, and sporty look that gives the car such personality.
As for the
whole body style, I wasn’t quite into it because the style was kind of awkward viewing it sideways, maybe it's due to the small tires;
but I will say I love the Labrador Black Pearl color along with the chrome
trimmings.
I really like cars that have
chrome trimmings on the exterior and interior of their cars, it really brings
out the cars style and makes it look more attractive.
The reason why the Outlander has a smaller
look than the big SUVs is because it’s a crossover vehicle, meaning it is crossover
between a SUV and car.
You can take the
Outlander on an off road adventure, or drive it through the powdery snow.
The interior seating is a crème color that is comfortable
the whole time while driving to your destination.
There is black flooring, black colored
dashboard and door panels that create a great mix of both colors.
By looking on the outside of the car you would’ve never
known that this Outlander has third row seating but I wouldn’t recommend adults
seating in the far back because it’s pretty cramped back there.
If I had more than 4 people riding along with
me I would have my girls sit in the far back and the adults in the middle seats
because there is enough room for my girls’ little legs in the third row seats.
What is one of the most important about a vehicle to me is
the space and storage.
Is there enough
leg room?
Is there enough storage for my
travel belongings?
So….did the Outlander
pass the test about space and storage?
Sort of.
The storage in the back
had plenty of space for my groceries, travel bags, and suitcases as long as I
had the third row seats collapsed.
When
the third row seats is in the up position there is barely any storage room left
but there is a small storage bin I can use.
As for space, there is good amount of leg room in the front and middle
seats.
Let’s talk about the radio/navigation area of the car.
I wasn’t too keen on the looks of the display
screen; the graphics seems a bit generic.
However, I do like that in the menu options it offers real time traffic
reports, real time weather, and point of interest (nearest gas stations,
grocery stores, food establishments, etc.).
What’s also really neat is that you can watch movies in this car but
only when the car is parked for safety reasons.
Still listening to CDs?
There is
a CD player in this car too.
As for a
lot of newer model cars, this car also has satellite radio; this is how I
prefer to listen to music because it’s commercial free and has hundreds of
channels to choose from depending on what satellite package you have.
The sound system in the Outlander is really good;
I’m very impressed with the sound quality and this is because the sound system
is a
Rockford Fosgate which is a top of the line brand.
Here is a list of more things I enjoy about the 2016
Mitsubishi Outlander:
1. The LED headlights are bright and it helped me be able to
see through all the rain. Also, I’m able
to move the headlights up and down to avoid shining the bright lights on the
vehicle in front of me.
2. Middle seats leans back if your passengers don’t want to
sit upright.
3. Push button start, remote keys, and truck door opens with
a push of a button on the door as long as you have the remote keys on you.
4. Heated seating in the front two seats to keep you warm
during the cold days and nights.
5. With all the rain Atlanta has been having lately the rain-sensing
wind shield wipers are a great feature to have.
6. ECO Mode switch helped me save on fuel. More money in my pockets means more driving
on the road! There are other options to
drive in all-wheel drive, in snow, or in normal mode.
7. Rearview backup camera displays a great clear picture of
what’s behind you to help you see when you’re backing up the car.
8. When it rains with humid weather the windows starts to fog
up and that makes it hard to see, so it’s good that the Outlander has heated side
mirrors and defrosters.
9. Second row seating has hidden storage bins under the
seats.
10. There is a couple of 12-Volt outlets and USB port to
keep my phone charged.
I would say that the pros outweigh the cons with this
car. With a little tweaking here and
there, this car would be perfect- well for me anyways. The Outlander is great for small families,
singles, teens, off road drivers, and people up north who get a lot of snow.
So, wondering what is the total MSRP for this vehicle? This fully loaded vehicle price is $35,195.00
which is affordable but if you feel that is a little too much for your wallet and
don’t want all the features, the starting price is $23,845. First time buyers will score big getting this
Outlander!
As I was saying, Atlanta has been experiencing a lot of rain
so I couldn’t do a whole lot in this car, however, the girls and I did have a
girls day outing last Saturday, check out what we did!
The girls and I had a bite to eat at
Burger 21.
The burgers there is okay, I pretty much prefer
Five Guys or
In N Out if I’m ever on the West Coast.
After we finished our meals we headed to
Party City so the
girls can pick out their costumes.
Seems
like the theme this year is witches because that’s what the girls picked out to
be.
The girls will put these costumes to
good use because they’ll wear it several times before and during Halloween.
Next door to Party City is
TJ Maxx/
Home Goods store (both stores are combined together); the
girls and I went in there so I could get some kitchen supplies I needed for a
post I was currently working on at the time.
I really wish the weather was acting right so we could’ve
stuck to our original plan which was go to
The Rock Ranch and
Buford Corn Maze,
but oh well, there is always next time.
