Hey yall!  When it comes to me cooking I need a lot of work.  I am by no means a cook and leave most of the cooking to Mr. M since he loves throwing down in the kitchen and I love to eat the meals he prepares for our family.

But things needs to change, I need to be the one cooking a lot more instead of finding unhealthy convenience foods to cook and spending money at restaurants.  I told myself I’m going to start learning how to cook, especially once I resign from my job; it’ll give me more time to learn.  In comes Hamptons Lane to help me succeed with my culinary goals.

About Hamptons Lane:

My Review:

I had a choice which subscription box I would like to try out and at first I chosen American Breakfast because I really enjoy making Sunday Breakfast each week, but unfortunately that popular box was sold out, so next I chosen Taco Party.

I’m such a huge fan of Mexican Food, I could eat it every day if I could!  How I make my Mexican dishes is the simple way which is crumble up some ground beef, add taco seasoning, cook the meat on the skillet, and add my soft taco shell and my toppings.  Mexican foods can be so easy to prepare but I want to make a more authentic style Mexican dish and Hamptons Lane gave me all the needed tools and artisan ingredients to help me make great tasting tacos you’d think was made at a restaurant.

Here’s what was included in my box:

  • Organic Blue Corn & Custom White & Yellow Corn Masa Harina from Tortillas de la Tierra (Came from Novato, California)-  The girls and I made the blue corn shells together and had so much fun making it.  Included was easy instructions that any non-cook can follow.  It was like playing in Play Doh making it into dough and rolling it up into mini golf balls. To make and cook the shells takes about an hour.  The shells has great earthy corn flavor and you have a choice of making your shells soft or crispy, I prefer my shells soft.  Each bag makes about 25-30 6.5 inch tortillas.  Price- $7.00

  • La Menchaca Fajita Seasoning from South Texas Spice Company (Came from San Antonio, Texas)- This seasoning gives meats such great Tex-Mex flavor and also tenderize your meat.  This is no ordinary seasoning, it makes me rethink about buying the taco seasonings I usually buy from stores. Price- $7.00

  • Margarita Salt with Chipotle from Salt Traders (Came from Ipswich, Massachusetts)- I sprinkled this salt into my chicken to give my chicken tacos a little bit more taste, a little goes a long way.  Also it taste great sprinkled on top of guacamole.  I didn’t have any margaritas but you can also use this salt around the margarita rim glass.  Price- $12.00

  • 6.5” Cast Aluminum Tortilla Press from Imusa (Came from Doral, Florida)-  I didn’t realize how easy it is to make your own tortillas at home and it’s much fresher to make it this way too.  All that is needed is two plastic wrap to prevent the dough from sticking to the tortilla press.  This was the girls favorite part which was smashing the dough flat like pancakes. Price- $19.99

  • Roasted Tomatillo Salsa from D.L. Jardine’s (Came from Buda, Texas)- I drizzled this salsa over my chicken when it was already prepared in my taco shell.  The taste is amazing and wasn’t spicy, even though the jar said it was medium hot.  Way better than using the typical red salsa.  Mr. M thinks this salsa is the truth! This fire-roasted salsa can be used in jasmine rice as well. Price- $9.50

Price for this box as well as other food boxes Hamptons Lane provides is $47, and I think that price is great with all the products you receive.  If you buy each product individually it'll cost you $62.49, so you're saving $15.49!

This box is fantastic and showed me new ways to cook authentic Mexican dishes at home.  Included were several different recipes to choose from so I’ll be making more mouth-watering gourmet Mexican foods for my family.   We made these tacos during National Taco Day 10/4/15 while we binged watch football all day, so we had a mini taco party for the four of us.

Check out all the other available boxes at Hamptons Lane website.  Foodies will rejoice cooking up many different recipe creations with Hamptons Lane food subscription boxes!

  4. OMG , I want that tortilla press. I buy tortillas every week, it would be nice to make them on my own. Besides that I just like kitchen gadgets anyway.
