Hey Yall!  How has your week been so far?  Have you been enjoying the shorter days due to the time change?  I was enjoying the change at first until I felt like I spent the whole day at work and when I get off it looks like it's 10 o'clock at night.  The darkness has me tired early and when I get home for the evening I want to curl immediately up in bed and go to sleep.

A couple of weeks back, my girls and I took a girls' trip to Ulta to replenish my conditioner I was out of and also look for some makeup.

Ulta has now topped Sephora being one of my favorite go-to beauty stores to stock up on my skincare and beauty products needs.  Ulta has better deals and also sell drugstore beauty products.  It's a one-stop shop for beauty!

Every time I shop at Ulta, I find myself buying more than what I came there for.  And just this last time I was there I scored a makeup organizer for just a penny, yes chile, a penny!!!!  Original price of the organizer was $20, so when it rung up for 1 cent I couldn't believe it, I had to do the cabbage patch and holler with excitement!

Well anyway, I purchased my hair conditioner, got a pack of Bare Minerals facial powder since I was running out, my 1 cent makeup organizer, and Shea Moisture Raw Shea Facial Mask w/ Frankincense & Myrrh.

Summer has left my skin all kinds of crazy, and I'm trying to whip it back into shape.  I like Shea Moisture products, well some of them, and I never had tried out their facial products, and this facial mask sparked my interest.

What made me give them a go was because their facial mask has:

  • No Parabens.
  • No Phthalates.
  • No Paraffin.
  • No Gluten.
  • No Propylene Glycol.
  • No Mineral Oil.
  • No Synthetic Fragrance.
  • NO Animal Testing.
  • No PABA.
  • No Synthetic Color.
  • No DEA.
  • No Sulfates.

According to Shea Moisture's packaging, this mask is supposed to heal and hydrate your skin.  Also, the unique blend of Raw Shea Butter and mineral-rich clays purify and soften to improve skin's radiance.

My skin needs all the healing and hydrations it can get, so I'm all for using this product.  With the price tag of $14.99 it better work.

I went home with my goodies, unwind and went into the bathroom to wash my makeup off.  I used my facial scrub first after my face was fully clean to remove any layers of dead skin, leftover soap, and makeup.  I opened the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Facial Mask and applied a thin layer all over my face.

What happen next was my face feeling like it was on FIRE!!!!!!  OMG, my face was burning, and I'm not talking about no cooling sensation.  I had to wash that mask off after a couple of minutes because I couldn't take the burning anymore.  Come to find out I shouldn't have scrubbed my face before I applied the mask, lesson learned.

But I will say my skin was so soft and smooth, and it helped minimize my acne.  The only problem was my face didn't feel nourish and hydrated, so I added coconut oil for moisturization.

The mask doesn't harden on your face like some masks do, the texture is like a body creme, and it sits on your face just like it.  The smell is like all of Shea Moisture's products, sweet, but not too overpowering.

I have been using this product off and on, and it has been improving my skin.  The mask works great for people with acne like me.

  4. I love shea butter products. However, last month I tried a mask that made my skin burn and peel so I have just been sticking to sea breeze and water lately to avoid further damage. This is something for me to add to my wishlist though so I remember to purchase it in the future.

    1. I use a similar astringent with Neutrogena that helps remove the dirt and makeup on my face.

  9. I love Bare Minerals powder, too! It's the best! I haven't used his mask before, but I do love lotions with shea butter! Thanks for the tip about not scrubbing before using the mask-- my cleanser has some major exfoliation beads and when I try this product I'll know not to use it! #ProductReviewParty

  10. It's too bad you had to add your own coconut oil to the mask. That would discourage me from using it. Did you just add it to the whole jar or do you have to add it every time you use it? #ProductReviewParty

  11. Wait a minute now, I was proud because I found cornbread dressing on sale for 10 cent at Aldis and here you go finding make up organizers for a penny. What a deal! Sorry to hear about the facial mask. I have a mask that burns like that too, I think it has too much peppermint oil in it.
