Hey Yall! The girls and I were invited to attend to see The Little Pirate Mermaid at Center for Puppetry Arts here in Atlanta yesterday.
This was our first time visiting this center, even though we drove past it several times. I even mention about going there to my girls and you should've seen the looks on their faces, like oh please, are you serious? They felt like they were much too old to be watching puppets.
But thanks to this invite and attending, they quickly changed their minds and regretted not stopping by the Puppetry; the show exceeded their expectation, they loved it and wanted to come back to see more shows.
Before attending, I thought it was going to be puppeteers you see moving the puppet strings while watching them talk for the puppets. I guess that's how it was during the olden days.
But boy was I wrong! You could hardly tell it was a puppet show with the stunning stage effects. It seemed like we were watching a 4D production. The show kept me and my girl's attention from beginning to the end. And no, this show was not just for babies and toddlers, the show was perfect for the whole family, I found myself chuckling several times.
I don't want to ruin the details of what The Little Pirate Mermaid is all about, which by the way is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales. You're going to have to see it. Trust me; you'll love it as much as we did!
And what a surprise at the end, we got to meet the puppeteers and learn about different puppets they used, and how they moved them, as well as how they switch through various scenes. These puppeteers are very talented.
The Little Pirate Mermaid will be playing from now until June 11th. Don't miss it!
After the show, we were able to walk through the puppet museum, while there, we got to see different kinds of puppets that were made in various countries.
We even got to see some of my old time favorites from Jim Henson, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rocks, and the popular, The Muppets. Goodness, I'm showing my age!
What caught me by surprise, Lauren told me she didn't know who Big Bird was. What the heck!!!! As much as she watched Sesame Street when she was little, you'd think she would know. I hope she was pulling my leg, because everyone know who Big Bird is, the bird is iconic!
If you're in Atlanta, and looking for some summertime entertainment for you and your family, step inside Center for Puppetry Arts, catch a show, also browse through the museum. Oh yeah, they even have workshops for you and your child to make puppets to take home.
Wow! It looks like you and your girls had a wonderful day!!
ReplyDeleteThis place looks great. My husband and kids would love this place. We will have to go to the Puppetry Center the next time we visit Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this place until now, all the cool memorabilia and puppets, how fun! #ProductReviewParty #111
ReplyDeleteSounds like a place my gbaby would love to see. I'd like to see the Jim Henson exhibit myself.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I especially like the displays. We tend to forget how much puppets have been used in television we watched.
