Hair Products with Tea Tree for Dry Scalp
Hey Yall! You saw that I have recently cut my hair in a layered bob, but lately, I've been wearing my hair back to my signature style the twist out.
I wore my hair straight for three days after my haircut, but with this humidity here in Atlanta, it would not let my hair stay great. I was already busting out the flat iron on day two because the heat was making my hair revert to its natural texture.
My new hair stylist told me that adding heat to my hair all the time will damage my hair, so it would be best that I wear my hair in the bob style in the fall and winter months when the weather is milder.
So, that's the reason why my hair is back to curly. But hey, I love it curly too, with the layers my hair has a better shape and more volume. My hair is not shape like that dreaded triangle anymore.
Also, my hair stylist cut off all my dead ends, so my curly-do is lasting much longer, my style is lasting about a week without needing to re-twist it. YES!! I'm all about saving time. Fluff out my hair each morning and go!
My hair stylist found that I have dry scalp. I pretty much knew this already, but I haven't been using the right products to combat this problem.
She told me that tea tree shampoos and conditioners work great for dry scalps, and I need to start using it ASAP. Mr. M said too awhile back that I needed to start using tea tree hair products, stylists he services in salons likes to use it on their clients.
I'll admit, I do use tea tree hair products sometimes, but I'm more into the moisturizing ones because I like how they make my hair feel afterward. But I do like tea tree shampoo and conditioners due to the tingling, soothing feeling it does to my scalp. It feels so therapeutic and makes my scalp and hair feel rejuvenated.
I started back using tea tree hair products and starting to notice a difference with my scalp, less white flakes, and itchiness. I'm going to start using tea tree hair products on my daughters too since they too have dry scalp. Our water in our home is hard, and I noticed on our shower head the water is leaving a red stain, so just imagine what it has been doing to our hair, stripping it dry making us use all these different hair products to get the moisture back.
By the way, there is a difference between dry scalp and dandruff.
Dandruff is when the flakes are oily, with a yellowish color due to product buildup with an odor. Dandruff is much harder to get rid of off the scalp.
Dry scalp is white, large flakes that come off scalp more easily. Dry scalp can be caused by hard water, diet, dry weather, and hair products.
Look at you looking flawless! I love the new cut and your twist out looks really cute. Tea tree is really drying on my hair so I use it every once and a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks girly! Tea tree can be a bit drying, but mix it in with moisturizing products.
DeleteLove your new look and I totally understand about the humidity ruining your hair. This summer has been bad for my hair as well. I know Tea Tree oil is wonderful for your skin I had no idea it was good for your scalp.

DeleteI have a really flaky scalp too and it is so embarrassing. You can totally see it on my hair too. I'm only 5'0 tall so I can only imagine what everyone else sees when they look down at my head. LOL! I'm going to need to try some tea tree oil products for sure. Your hair looks adorable too!
ReplyDeleteI'm short too, (5'3), try out tea tree oil products and see if that helps you.
