I'm telling y'all, this past weekend I didn't have a chance to sit down at all! My family and I were cruising up and down the highway attending events and having an exciting time getting away out of town for a couple of mini day trips.
Now, this week I've been home recovering by taking extra naps because all that ripping and running got my body sluggish. I'm starting to show signs that I'm getting older because always being on-the-go is starting to wear me out. Or maybe, I'm just becoming lazy since I've been spending more time at home and my body is adjusting to becoming more of a homebody. *Shrugs Shoulder*
The Rock Ranch
First up, Saturday the girls and I took a two-hour trip south to The Rock, Georgia to an event at The Rock Ranch.
If you have been following this blog for awhile, you've seen the girls and I have visited the ranch several times during the fall months. It's like our little getaway from the city to enjoy fresh air, and have outdoor fun without our electronics. We always have great bonding moments at The Rock Ranch.
As my girls have gotten older, they are more interested in experiences than getting on rides, so the activities we did were paddle boating, fishing, rock climbing, and playing with the farm animals.
This farm is massive, with plenty of things to do and see. It's no ordinary farm with just farm animals. A lot of fields and rolling hills that had us getting a good workout working every muscle with each step we take. I came home sore and drained from the walking and heat, but spending the quality time with my girls was worth it.
If you're in the Atlanta area and looking for things to do with your kids this spring and summer without the huge crowds, The Rock Ranch is a great city escape.

Georgia Renaissance Festival
The Georgia Renaissance Festival was my family first experience, and it is way better than we expected.
We thought it would be nothing more than a bunch of nerds coming together in costume doing weird things from the Medieval Times.
As the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover. The Georgia Renaissance was an enjoyable experience, making you feel like you stepped into the 16th century.
Yes, there were people dressed up as the peasants, kings, queens, and fairies during the Renaissance time, but it went well with the theme of the festival. The characters walking around were spot on with their roles, speaking and looking like the people during that time in history having me laugh out loud with their antics.
Michelle was a bit confused with the language, and even told one of the characters that they spoke weird. But I had to explain to her that was part of the act and the characters are cosplaying.
The entertainment is endless with everywhere you look something was going on like shows, carnival games, human-powered rides, artisan shops all around.
I couldn't get the girls away from the Mother Goose Booth!
And the food, boy was it a lot of it! The most popular dish was the turkey legs. The girls had to try out those big ol' drumsticks and loved every bite.
What we were surprised to see were the camels. My girls never saw the camels in-person and insisted they get on one to see how riding one would be and how the fur felt. The ride was bumpy, and the camels were super soft. I love the fact that the trainers kept the camels clean, fed, gave the camels breaks, and gave them lots of love and kisses. This shows me that the camels are well treated.
We missed out seeing the jousting because the girls and I were more interested in seeing the exotic birds and checking out the Birds of Prey show. It reminds us of our All-Girls trip to the Smokies visiting Parrot Mountain.
The girls and I have a soft spot when it comes to animals, and it is a must to check them out and learn more about different animal species.
These parrots and birds are rescues. Some were either found hurt and couldn't return to the wild, and some were given to the Non-profit organization due to owners no longer able to take care of their birds.
I would like to mention, please don't have a parrot for a pet. They are meant to be in the wild in a colony. They like to fly around and be free, not locked up in a cage sitting on a small branch all day.
But if you insist on having a parrot, please be willing to spend quality time with them. Parrots are very smart birds and have feelings; they don't like the feeling of being abandoned. I saw a rescue parrot at the festival that the previous owner wasn't taking care of him and the bird ripped all of his feathers off his chest due to post-traumatic stress disorder.
Although we enjoy the festival very much, it was quite costly with every activity costing money. Cash only. So, if you want to visit the festival have lots of cash handy. There are ATMs, but not worth getting hit with fees at your bank.
As I said before, there is so much going on at this festival you won't get to do everything in one day. So, it's best to visit a couple of times.
The festival is April 15 - June 4th.
This coming weekend will be another non-stop fun time because we'll be celebrating Michelle's 10th Birthday! Make sure to check out my Instagram to see what we'll be doing for her.
Disclosure: We were invited as media to both events, all opinions are our own.
Fun as always! I still haven't been to our Renaissance festival. It looks like it fun though.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great experience. There is just so much to do. I have always wanted to try paddle boating myself.
