Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been to any media events because I've been declining invitations, preferring to take it easy this summer. This year, I just want to relax and enjoy the long, sunny, lazy days.

I've been getting a lot of rest and spending time with my girls when they're not at camp, as well as doing some home repairs.

I have to say, the home builders around here are not doing a good job. They seem to be rushing through building these houses in just three months without paying attention to the quality of their work. I've had contractors coming in and out of my house to fix the mistakes made by the builders before my warranty expires.

Like the saying in the Blogging World, Quality vs. Quantity, and this goes for home builders as well.  Home builders need to realize with these new homes that come with warranties it cost them more to repair the mistakes they made.  If they put more focus in their work than popping up these homes like weeds, they wouldn't have to hire a bunch of contractors to help clean up their poor work.

On Tuesday, Mr. M and I stepped out while the girls were in camp and went to a VIP event here in Atlanta.

Carter’s Baby and Kids teamed up with the Pajama Program to launch the first Pajama Program Reading Center in Atlanta.  There was an official VIP grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration at the new reading center based in East Atlanta.

Mike Casey, the CEO of Carter’s joined First Lady of Georgia Sandra Deal for the ribbon cutting.

I missed out seeing the ribbon get cut due to Atlanta's traffic.  Atlanta is notorious for having gridlock on their freeways.  Even leaving the house early, and I'm still late! BLAH! 😠

When I walked into the reading center, there was a big crowd of people listening in to Sandra Deal read stories to the children that were there sitting Indian style on the floor.

The center looks amazing, lots of sunshine shining through the windows, artsy atmosphere, so inviting!  I wouldn't mind coming there in my pj's to settle down for the evening with a good book.

The Reading Center has volunteers in the Atlanta community that shares a new pair of pajamas and books with children in need.  The Center offers a variety of programming for children from preschool through high school.

If you're in the Atlanta area, you should check out the center, volunteer, and make a donation if you can.

  1. I remember the catch phrase "reading is fundamental" and would sit and read for hours. As a new homeowner, remember, "you never own a house, a house owns you!" Enjoy the weekend and I hope it's a relaxing one for you and Mr. M. Happy Father's Day to the man! #PRP

  2. Sorry to hear about the home repairs needed so soon. I guess its good things starting happening while you're still under warranty though.

This place sounds amazing. We need more educational kid based things up here.

  3. This sounds like a wonderful program. I know a lot of kids that having pajamas for granted. But there are kids who would love to have nice pajamas to sleep in a night. It's great that this program is available.
