Hey Yall! By now if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me post a picture of a brown, old-looking block that looks similar to a piece of meatloaf or burnt banana bread lying next to a small bouquet of flowers.
Only one of my commenters on that post knew what the brown thing was, a piece of authentic African Black Soap. You see, although the name says African Black Soap, a real one is not the color black. Those soaps that are black claiming that it's African Black Soap is fake with all types of unnatural ingredients to get the dark black color. And don't feel bad, I recently found out that African Black soap is not precisely black either.
So, welcome to another edition of Spring Cleaning Out my Kitchen Cabinets! Each Wednesday this spring, I'll be sharing a product that has been overlooked in my cabinet of review products and is worthy of being mentioned.
This African Black Soap from Sky Organics I haven't been sitting on it for that long, I recently got it last month before I flew across the US for spring break. But, this block of soap came right on time because, after my trip, I had a few nasty acne breakouts thanks to my poor eating habits during my vacation. ( I couldn't help it, California has some of the best cuisines!) Also, I was a bit emotional and stressed too that led to my facial acne as well. This 100% Pure African Black Soap is moisturizing with anti-oxidants & vitamin E acne cleanser, so it's meant to get rid of those stubborn facial bumps.

According to important directions, the black soap must be applied to hands to wash hands, and for face and body, it must be applied on a washcloth.
So far, I only used the soap on my face, with a washcloth of course! But, I do like to say that this soap is potent! If this is the first time using it like it was for me, it had my face irritated and red to the point of burning. After all, it was my fault because I overdid it with the scrubbing of my washcloth to face.
The black soap suds up a lot with a thorough deep clean. And the smell of the soap is not that pleasant, kind of like smoky, dirt, earthy aroma.
I will say, after use, my skin felt so much tighter, firmer, softer, with a fresh glow. However, I did need to use a moisturizer afterward since my skin started to feel and look ashy quickly.
Remember when I said that my face felt like it was burning after first use?
Well a few days later, on my lower chin I broke out with a small nest of itchy blister bumps. What would've been smart is if I would have tested the black soap on a small area of my face first.
But, will that make me stop using black soap?
Absolutely not!
I noticed a vast improvement with my skin just after one use, plus, unlike other soaps out there, this soap is:
- 100% Pure
- Organic Ingredients
- 100% Natural
- No Additives
- Chemical Free
- Cruelty-Free
Like I said before, I'm trying to get my skin right this spring and summer, wearing less makeup. Also, with me getting older, I want my face to continue to look youthful, longer, naturally. I want to age gracefully.
You can find Sky Organics African Soap online and at select Walmart stores.
Disclosure: I was provided this product free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
