I have been eyeing the Nissan Armada for a while now ever since I did a quick test drive around the block in it last fall during a Nissan lunch and learn event. I knew I needed to have a longer time with the Armada to form a more detailed opinion of it. But just by the looks of it, I was googly-eyed by its massive physique.
I'm not too familiar with the Nissan brand itself; however, I do see a lot of Nissan's vehicles, newer and older models on the roads today. I can see that they create a lineup of cars for a variety of different consumers, for instance, beginner drivers, families, singles, people who love adventures, and so on.
As for the 2019 Nissan Armada SV 4WD, I got to test it for a week; it was one heck of an SUV! Definitely for those seeking adventure and with a large family. Nissan got some of their competitors beat with this full-size SUV.
The body style alone of the 2019 Nissan Armada is like sweet candy to your eyes. The exterior looks similar to their luxury counterpart, Infiniti QX, but without the huge price tag that comes along with it. You can still have an extravagant SUV with the Nissan Armada while keeping around $20k in your pockets.
This particular 2019 Nissan Armada is a lower end model but still packed with a lot of features. It took me a minute to learn some of the accessories inside but it wasn't too overwhelming, I caught on quickly.
Usually, when I get cars to review I'm taking a road trip somewhere, this time around I did a lot of inner-city driving with the Armada. I did my routine in it like dropping the kids off to school during the week, taking the girls to their dental appointment, a movie date with the girls, run errands, and lunch dates with the girls and Mr. M. It's such an exciting car to drive around town in, even with it robust size.
Although the 2019 Nissan Armada is a high-quality vehicle that will have you falling in love instantly, it did have some room for improvement. I want to share with you the pros and cons.
Pros
1. The exterior is a monster! And I'm saying this in a good way. Older models of the Nissan Armada use to look like a bigger size Pathfinder, I'm happy Nissan decided to give the new Armada's more luxurious, yet beefed up look. The 2019 Nissan Armada will have heads spinning for sure.
2. When you think of SUV's of Armada stature, I bet your thoughts are the power performance would be lacking, well not with the Armada. With the 5.6-Liter Endurance V8 Engine, 390 Horsepower and 394 lb-ft. Torque (7-Speed Automatic Transmission), the car takes off quickly, never being a sluggish drive.
3. Nissan's are known for creating vehicles that keeps their consumers safe, and I'm a witness of this. Several years back, I was hit almost head-on by someone driving an Armada. I came out okay; however, my poor little Ford Focus was totaled. As for the Armada, it barely made a dent from the accident. Just goes to show Nissan makes high-quality vehicles and protecting their drivers in collisions. Nissan has some of the best safety features like:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Back up Camera
- 360 Birds-Eye View Camera
- Lane Departure Warning
4. The 2019 Nissan Armada is packing with a lot of space. Remember I said the Armada is excellent for adventurous people and families? The Armada is excellent for towing large items like boats and campers and towing around large families in this eight-seater SUV. And you need to haul a lot of things inside the vehicle; seats are easy to collapse by a push of a button.
5. The sound system is fantastic! With the Bose speakers all around the car, the music will have you rocking out of your seats! It's like you can feel the music in your spirit and soul, the sound flows deep!
6. The navigation system is user-friendly and will have you to your destination in no time.
7. Enough charging ports for everyone to keep their electronics charged with four USB ports and three 12-volt power outlets.
Cons
1. The fuel economy is bad! I watched the gas gauge quickly go to empty. I know, it's to be expected for large SUV's, but I have driven an SUV with decent fuel economy. Nissan needs to work on this, especially with the type of consumers today looking for ways to save money at the pump. (15 MPG, 13 city and 18 highway)
2. I don't care too much for the cloth seating because it attracts lint — the whole time I was using my lent brush to remove all the cotton balls it drew from our clothes. Don't get me wrong, the cloth seating is premium and soft to the touch, but I much prefer leather seating.
3. The backup camera does not provide a crystal clear view on the display screen; it's like the camera quality is pixelated.
4. To me, the Armada is a bit bulky. I'm short in height, and it was hard looking over the front hood. Sometimes I felt like the Armada would swallow me whole.
As you can see, the Pros outweigh the Cons. Still, I love this Armada despite some setbacks. And I heard Nissan brand cars last for years, so you get your money worth.
For this particular 2019 Nissan Armada SV 4WD, the price is $52,100.00. If you're looking for the top of the line Platinum edition, the price is starting at $63,100, so $10k more.

Disclosure: I was provided this car for a week to give my honest feedback.
Nice looking, but I agree it needs some work. I'm not tall either, so I would have the same problem and that gas mileage even for a larger SUV isn't great, cloth is a no go for me and I agree, it really needs a clearer back-up camera, looks 1st gen and not current, that you would expect in this price point! Just my thoughts, but I do like the look of the drivers area, everything in easy reach, easy to see. Another wonderful vehicle review Lou. Blessings, Erika
