Did you know that pizza is one of my favorite foods? Yep, I have been a pizza lover for many years, loving all the many styles of pizza. My favorite is plain cheese and veggies. I'm not over-the-top when it comes to my pizza toppings.
Believe it or not, although I'm a huge fan of these cheesy round pies, I never had the pleasure to eat a Chicago-Style stuffed pizza. Since I never been in Chicago (layover in Chicago airport doesn't count), I thought I'll never get to try this deep dish pizza unless I travel there.
Well folks, that all changed recently!
No, I didn't travel to the northwest to get a stuffed pizza, but I did go about 35 min from my home to Dunwoody to the newly open pizza joint, Nancy's Pizzeria who is the inventor of Chicago Stuffed Pizza. The new restaurant, located within the Perimeter Village Shopping Center off Dunwoody Road, is the fifth Nancy’s in Georgia and one of 32 locations nationwide.
About Nancy’s Pizzeria
Nancy’s invented stuffed pizza. Period. Born during Chicago’s “Golden Age” of pizza, Nancy’s Signature Stuffed Pizza was invented by Rocco Palese and his wife, Annunziata (“Nancy”). The 2” thick stuffed pizza perfectly balances the rebellious spirit of 1970s America and centuries-old Italian traditions. When his patrons began asking for Chicago’s famous pan pizza, Rocco resisted the urge to imitate. Instead, he pulled inspiration from his Italian roots and layered cheese and toppings between two crusts creating a stuffed pizza pie. The stuffed pizza was born, and the rest, as they say, is Chicago pizza-making history. Since then, Nancy’s has opened a total of 35 restaurants throughout the country, while also maintaining its commitment to making Rocco’s authentic and original stuffed pizza.
Nancy's Pizzeria in Dunwoody invited the girls and me out for a night of tasting their famous stuffed pan pizzas, also try their other delicious selection of dishes on their menu like their different flavors of freshly made chicken wings, specialty salads, loaded up french fries, and more, including delicious classic cannoli for dessert.
My girls and I ate our way through the menu, and let's say we came out stuffed just like Nancy's stuffed pizza!
And for the stuffed pan pizzas we tried out...by far the best pizza we have eaten! My stuffed pizza was oozing with cheese, with the cheese stretching a foot long! Nothing like those pizza places that quickly throw it together, then serve with no pride. Nancy's Pizzeria pizzas and other dishes on the menu you can tell is made with passion and quality. Nancy's Pizzeria makes sure only to serve the best, gourmet food.
Not only is the food flavorful, hitting all the taste buds, but the restaurant itself is also nicely designed and inviting. I love the fact that windows are surrounding the restaurant bring in natural lighting, and at night the lights are dimmed for a more relaxing, soothing atmosphere.
Nancy's Pizzeria is a welcoming spot for everyone to gather around for good eats! The friendly staff is there ready to serve you, making sure you have the best experience! I bet you'll return for more! I know I am when I'm in the area.
Make sure to request Levi for your server! He's the best! |
What also amazes me is the fact that this location, as well as the other Nancy's in Georgia, are minority-owned! I love seeing people of color stepping into the world of entrepreneurship!

About Dunwoody Franchisee Yves L. Dominique
Yves Dominique is a resident of the greater Atlanta area by way of The Big Apple. He spent most of his adult life in New York and was a professional on Wall Street.
A few short years ago, Mr. Dominique crunched the numbers of his personal level of fulfillment and felt a deficit. He yearned for more. His career as a financial expert offered rewards and incentives, but he lacked the kind of connection with people and community where he could feel impactful.
He moved to Atlanta in pursuit of a better quality of life and opportunity. After much thought, he took the path of restaurant ownership.
Yves Dominique started the entrepreneurial journey towards being a McDonald’s Operator. Months of preparation and training, another opportunity presented itself. He was introduced to the home of the original stuffed pizza.
After some research of the company and gaining a few pounds from his product testing, he joined the Atlanta market of Nancy’s franchisees. More than a year of kneading dough and stuffing pies, he is ready to open his doors.
For Yves, it’s more than business ownership, but he finally gets to interact with the community he loves, serving not only delicious food but opportunity and resource for others.

Just like Rocco, Kayla strays from the predictable. She recently revamped Nancy’s original menu by putting a modern and exciting twist on classic choices. She also designed new menu items from salads to appetizers, with a focus on freshness and flavor – all of which is reflected in both the Dunwoody and Conyers locations.
