Hey, Y'all! Did you know that the first museum I visited when I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, was the Atlanta History Center?
Yes, I moved to Georgia on July 7th, 2006 coming from the San Francisco, Bay Area and wanted to learn all about my new home, so it made sense to go to Atlanta History Center to educate myself of my new surroundings.
Me, Mr. M, and Baby Lauren went to Atlanta History Center the summer of 06' and fascinated seeing how Atlanta came about. Atlanta is immersed in so much history, culture, adventure, I felt like I, too, is becoming apart of it by living here.
Fast forward to today, it's been almost 13 years since we last been to Atlanta History Center, and not because the museum is stale, just that with years passing by I completely forgotten the museum existed until one day I was going to my friend's house close by and saw the museum again.
I had to return, this time with Michelle as well since she wasn't born when my family and I first went.
About Atlanta History Center
The Atlanta History Center is located in one of Atlanta's most vibrant communities where the stories and mysteries of Atlanta region thrive. Their 33-acre experience features award-winning exhibitions, historic houses, enchanting gardens, interactive activities, and a variety of year-round adult and family programs. With ticket admission, their guests enjoy complimentary parking and complete access to Atlanta History Center destinations.
We're on summer break, and we don't have much of summer plans; however, I do want to make sure the girls are still learning during their break from school, so Atlanta History Center was the perfect option to spend the day expanding our knowledge, and learning about the past in Atlanta.
By the way, Atlanta History Center is more than just the history of Atlanta, Georgia; they have artifacts about surrounding states as well.
Atlanta History Center is hands-on, interactive, making it entertaining for kids as well. At first, Michelle thought it would be just another boring museum, but was impressed by how exciting it was.
While we were inside, instantly, it brought back memories of me pushing Lauren in her stroller throughout the museum. It's unbelievable how quickly time flies, and now Lauren is a teenager. As the saying goes, "History has a way of repeating itself," and here we are, returning to the first museum we ever visited in Georgia now creating new memories together!
Atlanta History Center is a museum that all people living in Georgia, and visitors must visit to see all that came before us in this vibrant city.
I came to Atlanta to build a good quality of life for my family and was able to accomplish so much throughout the years here. I'm glad to call Atlanta my home and able to build roots creating a history that my daughters will be able to pass down to their new families. And, I'm thankful to my ancestors that fought hard for our freedom to be able to do the things we get to do freely today to live out our American Dreams.
