This week, the girls and I took a ride down to Decatur, Georgia to Tin Drum Asian Kitchen to eat their new summer menu options.
About Tin Drum Asian Kitchen
Tin Drum Asian Kitchen innovates the Asian food experience through "Less Ordinary" products and urban culture focused on made-on-order, affordable, and all-encompassing Asian food. Inspired by music and life around Asian curbside cafés, the menu packs bold flavors into dishes prepared in an open kitchen. The casual restaurant invites all budgets, taste buds and styles, introducing guests to thoughtful, modern design and surprising, witty details.
Tin Drum Asian Kitchen was the girls and I first time dining there, and definitely won't be the last.
Walking inside, first, you notice the fresh, vibrant layout with an Asian artsy vibe which makes the place very inviting for all guest. And the girls smiled from ear to ear seeing their favorite Japanese and Korean snacks on display for sale. You know, we had to make sure to stock up on those sweet treats before we headed back home.
Before we settled in, we got to tour the open kitchen and see how food is prepared. I noticed it similar to stir fry style, like when you're sitting at a hibachi grill with the fire display. Very neat to see what goes on behind the scenes during the time people are waiting for their meals to be made.
After the tour, we sat at our table, ready to chow down on some delicious garden dishes. Check out the summer salads we ate:
Saigon Summer Salad – Butter lettuce, season herbs, pickled carrot and daikon, basil, roasted peanut, cucumber, shallot crunch, chili powder, sweet soy glaze and chili lime vinaigrette (add chicken or shrimp).
Sumo Soba Noodle Salad – Chilled soba, spinach, seasonal herbs, pickled carrot and daikon, roasted peanut, cucumber, shallot crunch, sesame seed, seaweed, Sriracha mango dressing (add chicken or shrimp).
Spring Roll Lettuce Wrap – Two crispy spring rolls, carrot, cucumber, shallot crunch, toasted peanut, seasonal herbs, and chili lime vinaigrette wrapped in butter lettuce.
Firecracker Cauliflower – Tempura cauliflower, fiery chili sauce.
Some salads can be unexciting to eat, but not the Urban Garden salads. The salads are filled with fresh ingredients, textures, flavors, colors, it's like a surprise waiting for you with every mouthful.
Lauren mentioned the fact that the herbs taste freshly picked and reminded her of the garden she has in one of her science class.
Not only did we try the tasty salads, but we also got to choose another dish from the menu as well. I decided on having Tin Drum Asian Kitchen's Citrus Teriyaki Glaze, a stir fry bowl with sweet soy glaze, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, onion, lime, scallions, and your choice of grain. My stir fry bowl was perfect and filling. It's terrific a fast causal cafe can cook up some mouthwatering dishes at affordable prices.
All of Tin Drum Asian Kitchen's dishes will have you craving for more! And best of all, they also offer Curry and Noodle dishes as well.
There are 11 locations throughout metro Atlanta, make sure to drop in and taste all the Asian fusion dishes at Tin Drum Asian Kitchen.
Disclosure: We were invited to try their menu, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
