Are you looking for good shampoos and conditioners for your naturally curly hair?

You're in luck because I have listed cleansing and conditioning hair care products that work well with natural African American curly hair.

Taking care of naturally curly hair can be a daunting task, but using the right products can make the upkeep much more manageable, revealing luscious, healthy hair.

And no, you don't have to spend a lot of money buying shampoos and conditioners, there are low price ones that work just fine.

When it comes to shampoos, you want the ones that suds up well and thoroughly cleans the hair, especially the scalp, that doesn't cause product build-up.

Also, African American hair tends to be dry, so a good moisturizing shampoo is a must-have to not strip the hair, causing it to be dry and brittle.

And if you can, try to avoid shampoos that have ingredients like alcohol, parabens, petroleum, and sulfates.  You can easily find shampoo hair products in the health section of grocery stores and Vitamin shops.

Here are my top Natural Hair Shampoo Picks:

Alaffia Curl Enhance Shampoo- When I started paying more attention to what I eat and put on my body and hair, my hair care routine changed by using products without chemicals and using plant-based ingredients.    I shop at stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts and discovered Alaffia brand.    Alaffia Curl Enhance Shampoo deeply cleanses my curls without stripping my natural oils, unlike other shampoos that leave my hair tangled and dry.

Alba Botanica Coconut Milk Shampoo- I found out about Alba Botanica Coconut Milk Shampoo when I started shopping at Sprouts.    Due to years of not taking good care of my hair, my curly hair became dry, weak, and shed badly.    I used Alba body care products before, so I thought I would give their hair care line a try.    This shampoo is formulated to provide strength and nourishment to each strand of hair.    In addition, the coconut milk locks in all the moisture your hair has been craving while reducing split ends.

Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo- You can find Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo at your local grocery store, Walmart, Amazon, and other popular retailers. Organix has several different scents, not just coconut, which is the first scent the Organix brand came out with. I enjoy how thick the shampoo is and the amount of suds it creates. My hair feels clean with every use! Organix has shampoos and conditioners that fit your needs like moisturizing shampoo and volumizing shampoos.

JASON Restorative Biotin Shampoo- JASON shampoos can be found at Walmart, your local vitamin shops, and some grocery stores. JASON shampoos are a bit runny, but it does a great job getting hair clean. They have a few varieties of different shampoos to choose from. I like to use their shampoo with biotin and lavender because it helps gives my hair fullness from the biotin that's in it.

Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Shampoo- Aubrey Organics shampoos can be found at your local Vitamin Shop or online. Their shampoos are pretty light and don't sud as much unless your hair is really damp. However, it still gets the job done. I've enjoyed using their Honey Suckle Rose shampoo a lot.

TRESemme Moisture Rich Shampoo- TRESemme Moisture Rich Shampoo is what I swear by! Who would have thought a drug store brand shampoo would work so well with naturally curly hair!  Yes, the ingredients are not the best, but it washes my hair very well, and moisturizes it, making it feel like I can skip the conditioning process altogether.  My curls come out fresh, bouncy, and hydrated.

Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo- If you have a Costco card, you must get the Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo!  It has moisture nutrient complex with pure natural extracts giving hair a healthier, softness, shinier look.  Plus, this ultra-luxurious shampoo is sulfate-free, 100% vegan, paraben-free, and gluten-free.

Good Conditioners for Naturally Curly Hair

Good Conditioners for Naturally Curly Hair

Having a good conditioner is vital, giving naturally curly hair better manageability, and nourishment it needs.  After I've shampooed my hair, I always use a conditioner because shampoos can make strip hair from its natural oils, making hair dry and harder to comb.

With a conditioner, it brings the moisture back to hair.  What I like to do is while my hair has conditioner in it, I comb out my tangles since there is better slippage, causing less breakage while combing.  Also, by doing this, it helps each strand of hair get conditioned.

I keep the conditioner in my hair for about 5-10 minutes for the best results.

Sometimes, in between washes, I'll wash my hair with only conditioner, which is called co-washing, when I do wash and go's often, since it's not good to shampoo hair daily for African American hair.  Remember, shampoos can strip hair of its natural oils.

Below I have listed hair conditioners I love to use and doesn't break the bank:

Alba Botanica Coconut Milk Conditioner- I am so obsessed with this conditioner!  The Alba Botanica Coconut Milk Conditioner leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft, firmer, and nourished after just one use.  Also, what's great about this conditioner, it doesn't have the synthetic ingredients you see in other haircare brands.  So with regular use, you'll notice a difference in your hair, healthier and hydrated.  Not to mention, the smell is deliciously good.

Kirkland Signature Moisture Conditioner- If you have a Costco card, you must buy Kirkland's Conditioner, it's one of my top favorites!  After shampooing, the conditioner replenishes and maintains moisture, making hair healthy and vibrant.  It is also sulfate-free, 100% vegan, paraben-free, and gluten-free.  Using this conditioner will make your hair feel like it was professionally conditioned at a hair salon.

Aussie Moist Conditioner-  Add some Roo to your Doo with this low price drug store conditioner!  My hair feels amazing after using Aussie Moist Conditioner, and it works perfectly for co-washing during those in-between wash days.

TRESemme Moisture Rich Conditioner- TRESemme Moisture Rich Conditioner has become my go-to conditioner!  It gives dull/dry hair new life!  The TRESemme Moisture Rich System delivers intense nourishment and hydration, leaving hair with a beautiful, healthy shine.  Also, I use this conditioner for co-washing as well.

Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Conditioner- The Herbal Essence Hello Hydration conditioner helps softens the hair to make it more manageable.  Works perfectly for thick, curly hair.  And it's excellent for co-washing as well, leaving hair silky smooth.

Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioner- If you have dehydrated hair, the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioner is what you need!  This triple restoring action conditioner is infused with three kinds of oils, avocado, olive, and almond.  The system intensely transforms parched hair with 3x nourishing moisture making hair stronger, smoother, and shiner.

Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner- Organix is another one of my top go-to conditioners. The coconut milk conditioner is creamy and nourishing, hydrating your tresses while helping support strength and elasticity, leaving hair feeling soft and shiny with a hint of tropical fragrance you'll love!

Not all naturally curly hair is the same.  Find out what hair products fit your hair needs, and stick with it to avoid overspending on unnecessary products!  Trust me, I became a hair product junkie for a while, spending hundreds of dollars on products that didn't work for my hair, or I would use it once, and it would sit in my bathroom cabinet until it expired.

  2. I've been in the market for a new shampoo. I actually ended up purchasing Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo based on your recommendation and it is amazing. It didn't leave my hair feeling dry and it lathers up great. Thanks for the recommendation. Next I'm going to go ahead and give their conditioner a try to see if I can bring my hair back to life.
