It's refreshing to see a new eatery opening during these trying times!
There is a new cafe in town, Breadwinner Cafe & Bakery that opened in Dunwoody! The girls and I dropped in during lunch to taste all the yummy goodness at this cozy cafe.
Breadwinner Cafe & Bakery opened in 2010 in Sandy Springs, Georgia, by Geoff and Katie Melkonian, who first got their start by selling their family recipes of bread. With great fanfare, Breadwinner Cafe & Bakery is expanding in Dunwoody located at 5482 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, GA, 30338.
I love visiting local cafes because of the delicious choices of freshly made foods and the laid-back atmosphere. I admire the homey feel and being around great, welcoming people.
When you pull up to Breadwinner Cafe & Bakery, you first notice the building hometown presence that instantly captures you. And it gets even better when you walk inside with a gathering room of seating, brick wall welcoming you to Breadwinner Cafe, while the sweet sounds of 70's light rock fill the air. Cafe definitely got that mellow aura that soothes you.
Walk further back into the bakery, and you see the delicious display of sandwiches, homemade soups, plates of pasta, salads, loaves of bread, and more tasty items. It makes it hard to choose what you want to eat, making your eyes bigger than your stomach. So many options!
I see why Breadwinner Cafe & Bakery is a huge fan favorite, who, by the way, has been featured on the Food Network, Today Show, and as one of Oprah's "Favorite Things." Our meals were flavorful, warm, which satisfied our taste buds.
I had my favorite, Caprese sandwich with tomato basil soup with a pasta salad, and washed it down with a black cherry soda. When it comes to tomato basil bisque, it has to be made right, because a lot of times it tastes like thick tomato paste, but not the one served at Breadwinner Cafe. The soup had a rich, creamy tomato smoothness, with the right amount of seasoning that made my stomach happy.
Lauren had a similar dish like mines but added on her favorite, salmon to complete her meal.
Michelle, her must-have, was a whole turkey sandwich with a side of chicken noodle soup and chips.
Breadwinner Cafe is for sure the "it spot" for delish gourmet lunch! You have the option to dine-in or take your food to go, but whatever your choice may be, Breadwinner Cafe makes sure they serve their guest mouthwatering, freshly prepared food for all.
Remember to support your local businesses! Also, check out these great restaurants in Dunwoody I visited!
