When school started back, my girls wanted me to review a car to make first and lasting impressions when dropped and picked up from school. You know how teens are; they want to make a statement and look fabulous in front of their friends.
And they sure did have heads turning, wondering if I purchased a new car when they first arrived at school.
We had the pleasure of cruising around town for a week in the 2021 Toyota Prius Prime Limited, the top-of-the-line four-door, mid-size sedan.
Believe it or not, this is my first time driving a Prius, even though they have been around for years. Before I got to experience a Prius for myself, I thought they were these rounded-style small vehicles that young adults and green-friendly people like to drive.
When I lived in California, the Prius was a popular car of choice. Even some billionaires drive these eco-friendly cars.
The Prius is a great everyday vehicle for in-town driving and also commuting. I see why so many are on the road today because you have the option of driving both electric or gas, which helps save money.
You have the convenience of charging at the Prius Prime at home or the many charging stations or fuel up at a gas station. A full electric charge is 25 miles of driving range, giving you a short commute charge without using gas.
But, if you forget to charge, the Prius Prime will automatically switch over to gas engine, as long as you have fuel in the tank.
What I love is the fact that I drove all over town in the Prius Prime and not once needed to get gas, still having half a tank left when I had to return the vehicle.
However, I did charge the car a couple of times at charging stations when I went to the grocery store and the mall. But, I only charged because I wanted front parking. That's the perks of having an electric vehicle. It's like being VIP with front-row seats!
Not only did I drop off and pick my daughters from school in the Prius, but we also went out to the Perimeter area to celebrate Mr. M's birthday, went to Atlanta Comic-Con, and also chilled at The Works Atlanta.
There are so many things I loved about the 2021 Toyota Prius Prime; check it out!
2. Space- I was pleasantly surprised by how much space the Prius Prime has. Enough space for my daughters and Mr. M to comfortably sit and enjoy the drive. When it comes to my daughters' backpacks, we needed to put them in the trunk since they didn't fit sitting them by their legs. Speaking of the back trunk, a lot of space for storage, with a privacy screen so no one can see your belongings.
3. Touchscreen- Wow, this touchscreen is massive! This is the first vehicle that I've driven with a touchscreen a size of a tablet! The 11.6-in crystal clear touch screen has an easy-to-use navigation system, premium JBL audio, and more!
4. Fuel Economy- As I mentioned earlier, with the combination of having both electricity and gasoline, you'll find yourself constantly on the road instead of fueling up. Convenient option of charging at home or at one of the many charging stations, and it only takes 2 hours to fully charge (240V). (Electricity + Gasoline 133 MPGe) (Gasoline Only 54 MPG )
5. Wireless Smartphone Charger- It's great not to need a wired car charger to charge your phone. Fewer wires, less clutter. Also, Michelle's Apple AirPod was dying, so she placed it on the wireless smartphone deck, and behold, it started charging!!!! So, it charges more than just your cellphone!
6. Rain-sensing Wipers- Right now in Atlanta is the rainy season. And, when it rains here, it downpours! So, having the rain-sensing wipers sure comes in handy, so you can focus on the road instead of trying to find the on/off switch for the wipers.
7. Affordable Price- Not only do you save on gas by driving both electricity and gasoline, but the price of the Prius Prime is easy on the wallet too! For the fully-loaded Limited model, the price is $35K! And starting price is $28k! Great deal!
Once again, another fantastic Toyota vehicle! Toyota will always be my top go-to brand!
