A good skincare routine consists of three main steps - cleanse, moisturize, and protect.
Some people add additional steps to target specific skincare issues such as acne, eczema, dark spots, etc. However, you’ll find that these three steps are still at the core of their skincare routine.

Step 1 - Cleanse
The first step of your skincare routine is always to cleanse your face.
If you wear makeup before applying the cleanser, make sure to thoroughly remove your makeup correctly first.
There is an assortment of cleansers on the market. However, currently, I’m using the Orange Blossom Cleanser by minimalistic clean skincare brand APTO Skincare.
When using a cleanser, keep in mind that less is more. It only takes a little of the cleanser to cleanse your face of all dirt and impurities.
Ideally, you’ll be using a cleanser that is gentle enough for you to use it morning and night.
You’ll notice more youthful skin, minimized pores, and decreased acne by consistently cleansing your face.
Step 2 - Moisturize
The second step in your skincare routine is using a moisturizer.
A good moisturizer will help retain moisture while softening and hydrating your skin. Like the cleanser, it’s a skincare product that should be used all year.
The type of moisturizer you need will be based on your skin type, and you’ll also want to factor in whether or not you’re using other products such as toners and serums as a part of your skincare routine.
If you use toners and serums, you must apply those after cleansing your face before using your moisturizer.
Additionally, you may find that it’s best to use one type of moisturizers during your morning skincare routine and a different one during your nighttime routine.
Step 3 - Protect
The third and final step in your skincare routine is applying products to protect your skin.
During your daytime routine, sunscreen will be applied before going out into the sun. For your nighttime skincare routine, this would be a sleep mask or making sure that you have clean bedding that you’re laying your face on.
Healthy, glowing skin doesn’t have anything to do with genetics. Instead, it’s about making sure that you have a good skincare routine that you follow daily.
When purchasing products for your skincare routine, you want to make sure that you research to find which products are best for your skin type. Also, if possible, you may want to go with a kit that includes all of the products required for the steps mentioned above to avoid mixing brands.
These three steps are the basics for starting a good skincare routine. However, based on the skincare concerns, you may have to add in some additional steps and/or products.
Keep in mind that consistency is vital. It may take a while to get your desired results, but doing this routine daily will pay off in the long run.
