Have you ever considered whether serums can be used on your body, not just your face?
If you're not familiar with facial serums, they are a treatment that helps boost skin collagen by firming and plumping out fine lines and wrinkles. With regular use, you'll notice that your skin will have a smoother, radiant glow with fewer signs of aging.
Applying a serum is the second step in my skincare routine before I use a moisturizer/sunscreen.
I love how my serum has improved my skin tone and texture, but I also wanted these same results for my whole body.
Unfortunately, the body also ages, and with me getting older, I would love my skin elasticity to stay plumped without loose, sagging skin.
Paula's Choice 5% Niacinamide Body Serum
One of my top favorite treatment brands I use is Paula's Choice. They have facial anti-aging serums that contain ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and more to make skin visibly firmer and smoother.
Now, Paula's Choice has a 5% Niacinamide body serum that gives your whole body the benefits of vitamins niacinamide and d-panthenol. This powerful treatment helps the body's skin tone and reduces signs of aging.
Paula's Choice did a 4-week consumer study and...
- 88% of consumers said their skin felt more hydrated
- 87% of consumers said their skin felt smoother
- 83% of consumers said their skin felt less dry, tight, and flaky
What is Niacinamide?
Niacinamide is a water-soluble form of niacin (vitamin B3) found in foods like fish, green vegetables, milk, eggs, meats, etc. Niacinamide is required to function fats and sugars in the body and maintain healthy cells.
Niacinamide is also an anti-inflammatory that helps reduce the swelling and redness associated with acne.
Unlike retinol (vitamin A), which has irritation side effects, niacinamide is more hydrating, which is why it's safe for all skin types.
Paula's Choice sent me a bottle of their new niacinamide body serum, and I couldn't wait to try it out!
Paula's Choice body serum can be used daily or as often as needed. I like to use it after I shower because my skin tends to feel dry afterward if I don't apply a moisturizer.
The texture of the body serum is a bit thick, like lotion, and absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any white residue. Also, this serum does not have a scent, so you don't have to worry about it clashing with lotions that have fragrance.
A little goes a long way, so not much is needed. I like to use it before I apply my body lotion and sunscreen spray.
Pros
- Restores and even skin tone
- Scentless
- Absorbs Quickly
- Can Be Used As Often as You Want
Cons
- Pricey ($29)
- Small Bottle (4 fl. oz.)
During my health and wellness journey, I noticed that along with drinking plenty of water and incorporating fresh whole foods in my diet, my skin has made an enormous improvement.
So, my skin has been healthy and clear with healthier eating habits, getting Hydrafacials monthly, and having a skincare routine at home.
Hydrafacials are an added bonus that is only needed if you have skin problems like dark marks, wrinkles, and ance. Still, it helped me significantly after the years of damage to my skin from picking ance, not wearing sunscreen, and not moisturizing.
And speaking of dark marks!
Paula's Choice Niacinamide 20% Treatment
Paula's Choice has a Niacinamide 20% Treatment with Acetyle Glucosamine and Purslane face serum. This serum has terrific benefits for all skin types:
- Visibly tightens stretched pores
- Reduces bumps and orange-peel texture
- Improves tone and fades post-blemish marks
The serum is a light tan color and reminds me of lightly thick oil without the oiliness, but it can be a bit sticky, so less is more. There is no scent, and serum can be applied all over the face and neck or in targeted areas. I like to use it on my dark marks once a day, usually in the evenings.
Niacinamide 20% Treatment can be layered with other products; however, during the daytime, you should always follow with sunscreen.
After just one use, I noticed my skin had fewer blackheads and smaller pores in the t-zone area of my face.
Pros
- Minimizes Pores
- It Helps Fades Acne Scars
- Can Be Used All Over Face and Neck
Cons
- Sticky
- Expensive ($50)
- Small Bottle (0.67 fl. oz.)
Yay for body serum! Make sure to add it to your current skincare routine and the Niacinamide 20% treatment, and start restoring to soft, dewy, clear complexion skin.
