Spring break is a week-long vacation for students, often spent in sunny destinations. Whether you're staying close to home or traveling far, there are plenty of family-friendly locations to unwind before heading back to school and work.

Below, I have listed spring break ideas for those who would prefer to spend less money or want to splurge on their trip.  Lounge at the beach, enjoy mountain life's adventures, or even have a staycation; there are so many things you could do during your spring break.

St. Croix, US Virgin Islands- No passport needed when visiting St. Croix if you're a US citizen.  Beautiful picturesque warm turquoise water, sandy white sand, St. Croix is a tropical destination for those looking for relaxation without all the crowds.  Friendly people, great food, with views you thought you would only find on postcards.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina- Myrtle Beach is the vacation resort on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, the hub of the Grand Strand, with 60-mile string of beaches.  A lot of entertainment fun for the whole family like arcades, an amusement park, Ferris wheel, restaurants along the beach, shops, golf, and a lot more!

Orlando, Florida- Orlando is the family vacation hub for those seeking thrilling adventure at famous amusement parks like Disney World,  Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, and Legoland.  Orlando also offer excellent shopping malls, golf courses, and exciting nightlife.

The Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee- Looking to save some money on your family trip, The Great Smoky Mountains is the place to be.  Offering Disney-like amusement park and waterpark at Dollywood, with a wilderness theme.  There is a Vegas-like strip from Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg chalk full of family entertainment, with arcades, race tracks, museums, shops, restaurants galore!  If your family is the adventurous type, you can plan a cabin trip at The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and go on hiking trails while checking out the gorgeous scenic views and wildlife.

Atlanta, Georgia- Atlanta is a historic city that plays an important part in both the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. There are several family-friendly museums to visit like the High Museum, World of Coca-Cola, Center for Puppetry Arts, Children's Museum of Atlanta, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and more! Also, Atlanta is home to the largest US aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium.

Gulf Shores, Alabama- Gulf Shores is a coastal city that is famous for its 32 miles of pristine beaches. You'll find unique attractions, incredible dining experiences, fantastic lodging options, and adventure on and off the water. It's the ultimate beach lover's destination.

Destin, Florida- Destin, referred as the "World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”, is home to stunning white sandy beaches and emerald green water. This exciting beach town offers plenty of things to do like fishing, dolphin cruises, aquariums, theme parks, mouthwatering restaurants, shopping, parasailing, and watersports, all on the gulf. Once you visit Destin, you will not want to leave.

St. Augustine, Florida- St. Augustine is the nation's oldest city (EST. 1565) that offers plenty of dining, specialty shops, historic hotels, and award-winning inns, giving that Old World Charm that travelers love. St. Augustine is an excellent destination for those looking to unwind while enjoying the city's ancient architecture, narrow streets, and beautiful bayfronts. This gorgeous city will have you feeling like you stepped foot in Europe.

Charleston, South Carolina- Charleston, the oldest and largest city in the state of South Carolina, have picturesque pastel architecture, which is well-preserved, has cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, and top-rated restaurants; it's the most popular travel destination. And just 20 minutes from Charleston Historic District lies Isle of Palms, a barrier island on the South Carolina coast.
