My Disappointing Experience with Ambi's Updated Skincare Products

Ambi Skincare Products

It's been a while since I've posted about products that I did not like. I hate to do this, but I wouldn't want you to waste your money.

Do you remember the brand Ambi?

I grew up using this skincare brand because it worked great for my skin. When I had terrible acne scars and wanted them to fade away, I used Ambi's fade cream.

As you all know, to this day, I still deal with dark marks, and I've used a lot of different products that either don't work or take too long to work.

Since Musely The Spot Cream made my skin break out in hives and left dark marks and scarring, I was on the hunt for a new fade cream.

I was at Target one day with Michelle. While she was looking for beauty products for herself, I decided I should look for new skincare products.

While browsing the aisles, I saw Ambi! My childhood go-to skincare brand for my dark marks!

I wonder where they have been all this time? Or maybe I just forgot about their existence.

Anyway, I saw they had a collection of skincare products, plus their famous fade cream.

But I noticed the fade cream formula has changed. The key ingredient that made Ambi's fade cream work was Hydroquinone, and now it is without it.

But with Ambi's products' low price, I was willing to try them. Check out what I thought about Ambi Even & Clear Fade Cream for Moderate Dark Spots and Stubborn Dark Spots and Ambi's Even & Clear Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen.

My Review of Ambi's Skincare Products

Ambi Even and Clear Fade Cream

Ambi Even & Clear Fade Cream—I tried The first fade cream for moderate dark spots. It contained Niacinamide, Vitamin C, and aloe vera. I thought the cream would work well since my spots aren't very dark due to getting chemical peels.

The cream is lightly tinted and blends well into the skin. It is also moisturizing and works great for dry patches.

I didn't see a difference after using it for a month, twice a day as directed; I just had softer skin.

So, I stepped it up to the stubborn dark spots fade cream.

The difference with this cream is that it has 5% Niacinamide and Licorice Root Extract.

The stubborn dark spots fade cream is white in color but lighter, yet still blends into skin.

Again, I used it as directed, with no progress in the lighter spots, even though the package says you'll notice the discoloration fade within 2 to 3 weeks.

So, why would Ambi change their formula?

I discovered that the FDA banned Hydroquinone in over-the-counter skincare products, so Ambi had to compromise by changing its formula.

Ambi Even and Clear Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen

Ambi Even & Clear Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen—I love a product that is two for one, so I wanted to see if this moisturizer combo would work well for me.

Well, it didn't.

This moisturizer is not moisturizing at all, leaving my skin feeling and looking dry.

But it didn't leave a white cast like other sunscreens do.

It's sad to see my childhood skincare brand from the 90s go out like this. Maybe they should not have returned.

What Skincare Products to Use Instead

I highly suggest seeing a dermatologist if you have dark spots that don't seem to go away.

But there are ways to help fade your spots. It will take time, so make sure to wear sunscreen, stay out of the sun as much as you can, and use products with these specific ingredients:

  • Hydroquinone
  • Niacinamide
  • Kojic Acid
  • Azelaic Acid
  • Vitamin C
  • Retinoid
  • Licorice Root
  • Cysteamine
  • Arbutin
  • Chemical Exfoliants
  • Tranexamic Acid

In conclusion, it's disappointing to see a once-trusted skincare brand like Ambi struggle with changing its formula due to regulatory restrictions.

While the new Ambi Even & Clear Fade Cream and Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen did not live up to expectations, it's important to remember that there are alternative solutions for addressing dark spots.

Consulting a dermatologist and utilizing products containing specific ingredients like Hydroquinone, niacinamide, and vitamin C can be more effective in achieving the desired results.

Remember to prioritize sun protection and be patient with the process of fading dark spots.
