Recently, I traveled back 2000 years to the heart of the New Testament.
Discovering the World of Jesus: The Exhibition in Atlanta is an engaging and immersive experience designed to take visitors through the historical and cultural context of Jesus' life and teachings.
The exhibition features a collection of over 350 artifacts, multimedia presentations, and interactive displays that illuminate the social, political, and religious landscape of first-century Judea.
Through carefully curated exhibits, attendees can explore various aspects of everyday life during this era, including the traditions, customs, and beliefs that shaped the environment in which Jesus lived and preached.
The exhibition includes original manuscripts, replicas of ancient artifacts, and engaging narratives that help demystify the events and parables of the time.
In addition to showcasing the historical background, the exhibition aims to foster a deeper understanding of Jesus' message and its impact on subsequent generations, inviting participants to reflect on their own beliefs and values.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is the James (Yaakov) Ossuary, a first-century stone box discovered in Jerusalem that contained the bones of James, the son of Joseph and the brother of Jesus.
This ossuary is regarded as the most significant archaeological find from the time of Christ, as it is the only item directly linked to Jesus' family.
The tour is self-guided, and the experience takes about an hour or two to explore. No rush because you can go at your own pace once you're inside.
The highlight to me is the ending, where you can leave a prayer to the Holy Land and hang it up on a tree.
The exhibit is engaging, fun, and beautifully done. It helped me get a closer glimpse of the life of Jesus. It's a great way to experience the Holy Land if you have never visited it.
The cost varies depending on the day and time, with starting adult prices at $20+. The price for children ages 9-13 is $9+. Children under 9 are free.
Also, parking is a fee too, depending on how long you park, which you pay by the hour.
Unfortunately, there was no gift shop, which disappointed Lauren while we were there.
There are places to eat outside the venue, but no food is allowed inside the museum.
