Do you know how, after attending a convention, you start missing all the fun you had once it ended?
I discovered a place in metro Atlanta that does free mini-conventions every weekend at Charlie's Collectible Show.
About Charlie's Collectible Show
Charlie's Collectible Show was inspired by the founder's passion for trading Magic: The Gathering cards from his backpack at a local flea market. This enthusiasm eventually grew into Charlie's Collectible Show, which serves as a one-stop shop for fellow enthusiasts to celebrate their fandom and create new memories.
I discovered Charlie's Collectible Show on Facebook a few years ago but didn't visit because I forgot about it. Later, I saw them at Anime Weekend Atlanta when it was still held at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, and they invited me to stop by. Despite the invitation, I still didn't make it there.
I kept seeing ads on Facebook, and after telling Lauren about them, I thought, "Let's finally give them a try and see what they are all about."
Last year, they were open on Christmas Day, so we visited their location in Stone Mountain to see for ourselves.
Although they were open on Christmas, not many vendors were open inside. However, we got to peek at what Charlie's Collectible had to offer, which included collector's items like trading cards, classic videos, anime merchandise, clothes, classic movies, and more.
While browsing the venue, a lady who worked at the front desk could tell we were new there and recommended that we come on non-holiday days when all the vendors are open and on the weekends during their free mini-conventions with celebrity guests.
I took her up on her offer and returned during one of their mini-convention days, AnimeFest Mini-Con. And let's just say it wasn't small; many people were in attendance!
Not only were the permanent vendors there, but small vendors were also there only for the convention, selling various items.
Also, Charlie's Collectible Show has a concession stand that sells a variety of Asian drinks and snacks, similar to those Japanese snack boxes I've reviewed.
We had such a great time that Charlie's Collectible Show has become our go-to spot to hang out. We love the more intimate vibe and the fact that we can buy and sell collectible items. Lauren has made a lot of money selling her old stuff, like Pokémon cards and video games, and adding new things to her collection.
If you're looking for a place to go between regular conventions like MomoCon, Anime Weekend Atlanta, Atlanta Comic Con, Atlanta Collect-a-Con, Southern-Fried Gaming Convention, etc., Charlie's Collectible Show is a great place to visit. It is free to the public, has free parking, and is open Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
